Dear Students,
By now I’m guessing you must be tired of the early summer vacations this year. It sounded exciting that there won’t be any school for the next couple of months and online classes.. um, who takes those seriously, right? If you’ve studied hard the whole year then getting a pass/fail grade is.. blehđŸ„Ž but if you’ve been a slacker all year then you must be one lucky person (wish I was you when I was in school)đŸ€‘ My heart goes out for students abroad who have suffered this pandemic in a foreign land with no family support- it has not just been emotionally draining but also caused a financial dent to many families who have sent their kids abroad by spending millions. For a lot of people who have saved every penny calculated to the $ rate, it may be hard to sustain the rental cost and daily expenses- that too for online learning, and not on-campus experience. You may be worried for work permit and visa issues if you go back home during this time. Some lucky applicants have been exempted from the GMAT and IELTS - which is pareeeetty cool👍 A lot of you who are in schools that don’t have access to online teaching have wasted an academic year. But you know what? In whatever situation you’re in- be hopeful be positive. Be AWARE of how serious this situation is. I’ve heard of crazy zoom stories of kids sharing their zoom link with others and fooling around during lectures by playing songs and making noise. Its not okay to play cricket in the colony or insist to accompany your parents to the grocery store. I understand it’s hard to stay focused, but take this opportunity to revamp your mental health. If you have access to online learning - consider yourself lucky and make the most out of it. If you don’t, you’re ruining it for yourself and no one else.
If you’re planning a trip up north or having sleepovers at your besties- you’re putting your your community at risk. You’re the future of the country- please be responsible. Stay indoors.

Ps this is me back in middle schoolđŸ‘§đŸ»

I’ve always wanted to learn how to drive, and never really gathered the confidence because I always thought I’d scratch it. 3 years ago my parents enrolled me in a driving school to learn how to drive a manual car, but never really trusted me with our own. So last week after much insistence daddy took the responsibility to teach me how to drive an automatic car, and oh my - it’s so EASY. I still question why they made me go through the manual torture where I’d be constantly scared of the car stopping in the middle of the road. I’m still practicing my reversing and parallel parking skills, but hopefully once the lockdown is over, I’m getting my learners license 🚘 đŸ™‹đŸ»â€â™€ïž if you catch me on the roads in dha then pls give me way, because I’m a newbie 😌

Im glad the government announced 2 weeks locked down because that’s exactly what we need. There’s nothing to worry about though - as per the news we have enough gandam/wheat to last us the whole year without production, and enough daal to last us 8 months. Therefore don’t stalk up for more than 2 months of groceries, aur bharosa rakhein... this won’t last too long.

Secondly do yourself a favour and give a break to the news channels, and unfollow the social media accounts that are spreading fear, and making you anxious. I don’t know about corona but the toxic news can affect your mindset, and get you into trouble for sure. Im not saying ignore the media and whatever’s happening. Acknowledge it and act upon it, but don’t be stressed even after taking all the necessary precautions đŸ™đŸ»đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž Baqi, Allah Miyan khair karein 😊

Friendship should be effortless - whether you get to talk over the phone once a month, or whether you see each other once a year. I mean if you can keep the balance then good for you, but if you can’t it shouldn’t be a museebat ke ‘Haye tumne 3 mahinay call nahi ki. You’ve changed.’ Life is busy and each person has their own routine and circumstances, and esp when there’s a time difference it’s genuinely hard to keep in touch. Even if you can manage, you’ll feel frustrated if the other person can’t match your pace. Isliye instead of complaining, cherish the moment and catch up. I mean it’s all fun and games when you’re in school and you fight about ‘You’re MY best friend and you ignored me’, but later on in life you have so many things happening at your own end, that the extra pressure from a friend is anything but comforting. Here’s my friend who recently moved to Manchester and she’s visiting Pakistan. We barely get the chance to chitchat while she’s there, but aaj gupshup ka bohat maza aya. It’s one of those friendships where you pick up wherever you left, and tbh it still feels like we are still in high school and we’ve just stepped out to grab our fav pizza 🍕👭 Nothings changed đŸ€—

The past two days have been so packed and im trying to catch up on work and personal commitments but it kind of sucks the energy out of you. I usually don’t like to go to bed thinking about all the tasks I have pending from today that I have to do tomorrow - it’s a bit unfulfilling. Maybe we take too much pressure on ourselves nowadays, or maybe the world is actually getting more fast-paced and competitive. Anyhow we deserve a round of applause for really pulling off a great week đŸ‘đŸ» Heres to my pillar who takes up 70% of my work with a smiling face đŸ€— I thought dream team is a myth, before she joined me. But oh well, I guess I’m blessed with the best.

Woke up and left for lunch in my oily hair and PJs. Made a pit stop at where mom and sister refused to take me without washing my hair. Isliye I got a quick blow dry because ghar walo ki izzat ka sawal tha. My sister suggested to have an alternate wardrobe for me at the salon to save themselves from embarrassing situations 👚 Like am I born in the wrong family? 😧

A missed deadline, a failed course, an unsuccessful admission, unable to fulfil a family commitment, a bad appraisal, an unsuccessful job application, a rejected marriage proposal, whatever it may be that’s building pressure on you - acknowledge it, flip the pillow and sleep in. It takes courage to go to sleep thinking ‘I’ll try again tomorrow’. You’ve got what it takes, and you deserve better. So try a different approach, don’t be disappointed, wear a smile every day and remember that there’s an ocean of hope, love and success that awaits you. 💛

In our 20s we all need clarity regarding studies/career. There’s confusion of what profession you want to be, what your parents expect you to be, what your siblings suggest you should be , something totally wacky you want to be, and something super safe that your friends recommend. Don’t get trapped in the safety net, and take the risk you’re scared of, because playing safe will make you ‘normal’. And hey, you aren’t ordinary - you’re special my friend 😃

A midst the uncertainty of what the future, have a clear vision, do your 100%, believe in God, qismat and that whatever’s best for you WILL find a way.

Now somebody tell me that.

27/01/2020

I cannot believe the fact that the first month of Jan is almost over. Like when did 2020 even start? Still feels like we are in the same decade. It’s like time is flying at the speed of light. There’s so much that we thought we would do in college, early 20s and now my God I’m 25. Like WHERE is the time going and WHY is it taking me along? Not that I have a problem, in fact they say when time passes quickly it’s because you’re happy â˜ș But sometimes you don’t want to feel too adult. All you want is finish your homework on Friday, watch a movie on Mogambo, visit your grandma, chill with your cousins and play flames with your silly bff. As time passes friends move on, grandparents are no more there, cousins are dispersed and busy in their lives. You’re busy too, but all of a sudden when you’re prepping to go to sleep, you realize those were goals, and that was life. Don’t you wish you could go back in time and just pause? What’s the one thing you’d hold on to?

Today I had halwa puri after a long longg time with khaalis lassi which was SO filling. So they say your tummy is divided into three portions: air, water and food, so here I got THREE puris in a platter, and I naturally ate two at least (thanks to my great life choices),and I feel F-U-L-L. But tbh how can we have 3 puris without disturbing the other two portions? I guess it was one of those days when you know you’ll regret it, but you still eat because kya karein, chaska hai 🙈😋

The Rule of 5 đŸ’đŸ»â€â™€ïž
The other day I saw a quote that ‘you are an average of the 5 people that you spend the most time with’. So you should choose those 5 people carefully making sure they are:
1) Positive - we are all attracted to positivity, and negative energy is exhausting and drains us down. Believe it or not, it eventually makes us negative too
2) Similar values - these are core things that make you, YOU. Such as honesty, ethics, respect, integrity, growth and vision
3) Have similar goals/aspirations - in order to do well and progress you must be surrounded with people who are aligned with your goals, so doing well seems ‘normal’ and not ambitious
4) they like you for who YOU are - you should be comfortable in ‘being you’ in front of them, and not try to be be pretentious. You can try to be different for days, weeks or a few months, but not forever. So be comfortable in your own skin, and if you can’t be yourself with these five people even, then WHO you hidin from? 😅Put yourself out there, rather than thinking about it for an hour before you sleep and then 😮 cuz nobody be listening to that chatter
5) Spend time because you LIKE to spend time, not because you HAVE to. Utni social commitments rakho jinti poori kar sako. Don’t hate yourself for commitments you had to make. One can’t compromise on family commitments, cuz that you just HAVE to 😋 but be selective in your friends selection because that’s by choice, and you’re giving your mooooost valuable thing you have - your TIME ⏰

Ending the weekend right with a plate of homemade fries + spicy mayo and a show. The other day I watched ‘The Sky is Pink’ and my heart melted. I was SO inspired by and role as parents. So strong yet so vulnerable.

Now that Meray Paas Tum Ho is finally going doooooor (ending), im going to catch up on the world and start watching a new movie/series. I haven’t gone to the cinema in AGES, and now I miss watching movies and having nachos (my all time FAV). Do you know any new Pakistani movies coming out, or any other decent movie on Netflix? Ab aadatein badalnay ka time aagaya hai, don’t you think? 😳

Totally comfortable with two short braids, but still why did I get my hair so short? đŸ’‡đŸ»â€â™€ïž Do you guys have moments jub aap jazbati ho kay you get your hair chopped? Like for no reason - you just do it for a change, not realising that you’re not rapunzel and that you’re hair grows as slow as a tortoise. That’s how much it grew pooray 8 months mein - NOT kidding.

This hairstyle is for days when ya don’t want to damage your hair too much, and yet still look a tad bit cute, despite the baby hair not cooperating and popping out of the braid. But like me, my braid is imperfect too đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™€ïž

So this week you’ll see two kinds of bosses:
A) Who will celebrate your success by hosting an annual dinner, or giving you a token of appreciation for the hard work you’ve put into making 2019 successful. If you think about it, just a thank you/acknowledgement can do the magic and you’ll feel motivated.
B) Dismiss the team’s performance, pretending y’all jus doin your job, and getting paid $$
C) 2019 was history and 2020 is crucial and the best way to maximise results is by putting you under-pressure. So let’s welcome 2020 by discussing the unrealistic figures I expect you to achieve, and just btw you can expect to see salary cuts and holiday waivers as New Year giveaways from us.

Be kind and acknowledge your teams effort, and be generous in complimenting their hard work. You’ll see the results double, if not triple đŸ€© the year has just started and you can still surprise your team, and believe me you’ll see the magic that a heavy pay cheque even might not do. W

This was a small acknowledgement for my colleague who is a pillar to our success at đŸ€—

What kinds of bosses have you seen? Share your experiences. I’d love to know!

1. Hey guys! The weekend has finally arrived and it’s that time of the year when im finally going to take some time out to chill at home with my family, sleep in, and catch up on movies and shows
2. My family is visiting from America/Khi/Isloo and im looking forward to hang out with them. You know those days when you have nothing on your to-list except doing your own thing. Jub jaldi uthnay ki jaldi na ho. Tayyar honay ki khapp na ho.
3. Yeh hai zindagi dosto. Annual leaves ko istemaal karein aur ghar bethein- we all need to charge our batteries once a year 🔋
4. These ten days are fully dedicated to my-time where im going to shoot some nice content (ideas welcome), have baakar khani, sabaz chai and soup, and be glued to the heater.
What are your plans? How will you end 2019?

Attended a leadership training by Schuitema - A human excellence group, and learnt the following key lessons on employee empowerment.
1) When you suspend control, it suggests a higher degree of trust
2) It’s assumed that when a person is trusted, they are more likely to do what’s right, rather than what’s in their self-interest
3) When you give them the responsibility, only then you can hold them accountable too

21/11/2019

Today I attended a training session on Care & Growth, where we explored the leadership characteristics of:
a) A controlling boss- who doesn’t trust his/her team, gets work done by building pressure and fear of job security. They have a give-and-take relationship with people and employees only come to work to get their salaries, with no affiliation with the company. The supervisor in that case only cares about results and is least bothered about the employees growth and work-life-balance.

b) A Giving Boss- who employees look up to, respect, has strong values, takes a stand for his/her team, appreciates them and takes the team together by treating them fairly.

Here’s a candid skit that I did on this topic. If you like this video then don’t forget to tag your friends and SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel.

So I had heard stories of his achievements, generosity and simplicity many times before. I had briefly met him 3-4 times he visited Packages Mall. But today I got the chance to have breakfast with him, and really got to know the Living Legend, SBA - Syed Babar Ali Sb.

All the above stories were of SBA the businessman and his contribution towards Pakistan. But today, it was more about SBA as a person, and his life growing up in Mubarak Haveli. It was a dream to say the least.
