Hi! I’m so grateful that you have followed this page. I wanted to introduce myself and let you know about some police wife resources I have. First, I’m Kristen, a police wife of 10 years. My husband is with LAPD. We have two boys ages 6 & 8. We love nature. I struggled with resentment in our early years of marriage and struggled during heightened BLM time a few years ago while Rick was recovering from a IOD. I love connecting with fellow wives on the funny and challenging parts of our unique lives. This week I co-published a children’s book written from the perspective of a child of a police officer. I wrote it and another police wife, Michelle Johnson, illustrated it. It’s funny and a bit emotional if you read between the lines. I hope it helps children of police officers and police families feel seen. It was, of course, inspired by our boys (Michelle and I both have two boys). Daddy’s boots by the door always let us know he’s home safe.

Celebrate those small wins, police wives!

We police and first responder wives take our children everywhere with us more than others because we don’t know when our spouses will be home. Seeing my oldest who will be 8 this month, Maverick, push the cart, and both my boys create their own grocery list this last time we went shopping showed me just how much they’re learning a life skill because they’ve been shopping with me so many times. Sure, we don’t hunt for our food (their dad will teach them that), but grocery shopping is a practical skill. The next time you feel burnt out with taking your kiddos everywhere with you, know that you are teaching them something, mama. I see you, fellow first responder spouse.
