And our most recent and probably best buy this year, a "mechanics special" 2007 Dodge Charger that was an unmarked California Highway Patrol unit out of the Fresno area. This poor Charger had been auctioned twice previously, the last time having brought about $800. The purchaser had gotten the car fired up and let it run while looking the car over, until it shut off and would not restart, he undid the deal. When it came up again, it was listed as non running with no functional brakes and a whole mess of other issues. We snagged it for $350 after fees.
Once it arrived in Oregon, our transporter said that he put 2 gallons of fuel in and the car would attempt to start but ended up winching it up. Tossing a jump pack on, I had the same result. Under the hood I quickly found that the intake had only been partially reinstalled and the EGR tube was not connected, massive vacuum leak! Fixing that, it fired right up but still ran rough, how it ran before I do not know. Scanning codes revealed that the front drivers side coil pack was bad causing a misfire and rough running.
Drove excellent down to the shop where I gave it a quick exterior wash and aired up the tires. For 246k miles, the interior looks like a 50k mile car and it drives like one as well. After fresh paint, this will make for a great daily driver, just might not want to sell it!
