Fire incident at Safapura
1. On 25 June 23 at around 1250 hr, a fire incident took place in Safapura (Pehlipora mohalla) at the house of Mohd Sultan Khan s/o Lt Noor Mohd Khan due to electric short circuit. 13 RR troops rushed to the location and assisted in extinguishing fire and preventing it's spread to the other houses.

2. Army alongwith the locals assisted in safe evacuation of family members thus preventing any loss of life.
The quick reaction by the Army helped extinguishing fire, prevented it's spread to nearby houses and saved precious lives.

3. The effort by the Army is lauded and appreciated by all.

MEDICAL CAMP UNDER CIVIC ACTION PROGRAMME [ CAP ] 2023 3 BN . C.R.P.F. , BANDIPORA [ J & K ]

Under the Civic Action Programme ( CAP ) of CRPF , a free medical camp was organised by 3 Bn . CRPF on 04/05/2023 in interior and far flung area of Quilmuqam village under PS Bandipora . District Bandipora . The medical camp was inaugurated by elderly senior citizen local Jenab Ghulam Ahmad Mir , ( R / O Quailmuqam Age - 91 years ) in the presence of Sh . Rakesh Sharma , Commandant 3 Bn and other officers of CRPF & elected BDC members of Panchayat.

The programme included free medical checkup and distribution of medicines for serious illness & changing weather . Large numbers of ailing peoples , specially old aged senior citizens of these village including ladies were benefited by the free medical consultation & treatment.

The CAP for medical benefit was also assisted by civil hospital and Dr. Aiyaz Ahmad Mir , MO PHC Ashtangoo , Dr Riyaz Ahmad Zulfi , PHC Chuntimulla , Dr.Fozia , ( BMO office Bandipora ) , Dr.Ghulam Hassab Akhoon ( Ayush ) also participated in extending medical treatment to the local populace.

More than 331 villagers were benefited during the programme , Jenab Mohd Maqbool Mir Sarpanch of Quilmuqam and other learned members of village Panchayats of nearby areas witnessed the medical camp.

While concluding , Officers of 3 Bn . CRPF appreciated the participation of the village representatives and medical team of Distt Hospital Bandipora , PHC Chuttimulla , Ashtangoo and Ayush team Bandipora on the occasion.

Army's 13RR Extends Help In Dousing Fire

Bandipora, May 18 (GNS): A Carpet workshop and a double-storey house were completely gutted in a mysterious fire incident in Sadunara village of Hajin in north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Wednesday late evening, locals said.

They told GNS that fire broke out in the carpet workshop belonging to Mohd Ayoub Wagay and in a two-storey house of duo, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, and Shahbaz Ahmad Khan of Potu Mohalla, in Sadunara village .

They said, soon after getting tip off, Army responded immediately and reached the incident location, with Soldiers of 13 RR Ajas Camp. Civil fire-tender, with active help from Army, was able to douse the fire.

However, locals said carpets worth lakhs were completely destroyed and houses gutted in the mysterious fire incident.

They have appealed administration to depute a team of officials to the spot to access the losses suffered by the owners and provide them early compensation.

Meanwhile, locals of Sadunara village thanked the 13 RR Soliders in general and Major Abhinav in particular for timely action in controlling the raging fire, which could have spread and caused major damage to human life and property in the area.

Moreover, the cause of mysterious fire was yet to be asserted. (GNS)

Snow forecast: DC Bandipora reviews preparedness

Bandipora, October 21: In view of the inclement weather forecast this weekend, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad Thursday convened a meeting to review the winter preparedness and to deal with any kind of situation.

Meeting was attended by OC Beacon, Assistant Commissioner Development Abdul Rashid Dass, DFO Bandipora Shabir Ahmad, DIO Jahangeer Akhoon, AD FCS&CA Bilal Ahmad, CMO Bandipora Dr Bashir and other senior officers of the district

The meeting discussed action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption to services in case of snowfall. The DC, while hailing their efforts during the last snowfall in the district, asked the concerned departments to ensure even faster response to the inclement weather forecast for the coming days.

The DC directed for ensuring that snow clearance machines are positioned at all critical spots and that these are pressed into service as soon as snow starts to accumulate during snowfall. He stressed on prioritizing snow-clearance from roads leading to all important installations across the district including Hospitals.

Dr Owais Ahmad said all the men and machinery have been put on high alert in the district and the snow clearance operations will be started soon after the snow starts accumulating on roads to ensure all major roads are cleared on war footing.

He said the Mechanical Engineer Department has put Snow Cutter machines on standby at different locations of the district so that they can be pressed into service at earliest besides machinery of various Municipalities.

The Deputy Commissioner stressed on ensuring availability of essential services in snow bound areas besides making special arrangements for airlifting stranded passengers in case of closure of Gurez-Bandipora road.

The meeting was informed that adequate stock of ration and LPG has been stocked in the district including in Gurez valley.

It was given out that the administration has set up a control room in the Mini Secretariat Bandipora and at Sub-Division level and urged the people to contact on phone numbers already notified by the administration.

Army's five days Girls Sports Festival Concludes in Bandipora

Bandipora, Sep 23: Five days sports festival "Spirit of Freedom" for Girls was conducted by Bandipora's 14RR army under the aegis of Manasbal Sector was concluded on Wednesday here t Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium Bandipora.

The sports festival for girls titled Desire to Fly; Let's Touch the Sky! Was started by Army's 14RR on September 18 and Subsequently concluded September 22.

An army spokesman said that the five day extravaganza was aimed at promoting sports and empowering women by providing an exclusive platform to showcase their talents.

He said that the Civil Administration, JKP, CRPF and Local Awam were also taken on board for this initiative wherein sports were utilised to address social issues by empowering women & generating awareness.

"Major events conducted as part of the festival included North Kashmir Volleyball Premier League for Women, Bandipora District Girls Athletics Competition and Bandipora District Village Games Competition for Girls, " the army spokesman said.

"Apart from these competitions, a multitude of activities geared towards generating awareness in various fields were also organised to include Folk Songs & Dance, Martial Arts Display, Felicitation of Women Achievers etc, " he said.

He also said that the finals were held on 22 September 2021 and graced by Commander Manasbal Sector RR, CO Bandipora RR, DC Bandipora, CO 3rd Battalion CRPF, SSP Bandipora and various other dignitaries from Security Forces, Civil Administration & Local Schools.

The army said that the festival was first of its kind and impacted people from all walks of life with total numbers estimated to be in hundreds.

"It has generated awareness about Women Empowerment, Women's Rights & Sports with a view to encourage them to realise their full potential and achieve their dreams, " the army added.

*BJP Worker Injured In Misfire By PSO In Kupwara, Discharged*

Kupwara, July 16 (GNS): A BJP worker suffered firearm injury after gun of his PSO went off accidentally in the car they travelling in near Gulgam area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday evening, officials said.

“There was misfire by one of the PSOs in the car. Other PSO fired in fear and one bullet got hit in the arm of Ishfaq (the BJP worker),” SSP Kupwara G.V Sundeep IPS told GNS.

Later, Ishfaq was shifted to local hospital from where he has been discharged after first aid, sources said.

They said that soon after the incident, senior police and army officials reached the spot. (GNS)

_DDC Bandipora reviews progress of PMGSY Roads_

*100 Kms target macdamization of PMGSY geared up*


Bandipora July 05: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad today reviewed the progress on roads being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in the district.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Executive Engineer PMGSY, OC Beacon and other concerned officers.

The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the progress achieved under PMGSY and a threadbare discussion was held with regard to the bottlenecks that hinder the early completion of various projects.

It was given out that PMGSY has set a target to macadamize 100 Kilometer roads across the district and the work is in full swing on majority of the road projects out of which several works are near completion. Officers informed that construction and macadamization of roads is at different stages of completion.
Executive Engineer PMGSY was asked to frame month wide timeline chart of completion as as to monitor the progress.

DC Bandipora directed Executive Engineer PMGSY to complete the work on Authwatto-Labkachal project by October 2021.

Meeting also discussed progress on Peer Bhutto to Chandiji road and other similar projects. DC Bandipora directed the executive engineer PMGSY to explore possibilities of repairing of erroded portion of part of Binlipora-Ketson road .

While taking a detailed review of the stage/scheme wise progress and completion of scheme, the DDC directed the officers to review the pending projects for want of any clearance and get the issues resorted so to complete these projects at the earliest. He directed the officers of PMGSY to coordinate with concerned authorities and settle all the issues including pending land acquisition cases, forest clearances etc for early completion of PMGSY roads.

Dr Owais stressed upon concerned officers to ensure the quality standards in road construction with climate-resilient construction so that the roads can withstand the vagaries of climate in higher reaches especially in Gurez.

ADC Bandipora, SDM Sumbal reviews installation of Oxygen plant at Hajin Hospital

Bandipora, July 05: Additional Deputy Commisioner Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Mir (ADC) Bandipora along with Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sumbal Dr. Bashir Lone today visited Hajin took stock of ongoing work on installation of Oxygen generation plant at Hajin Hospital.

The Duo directed the concerned agency to expedite the pace of work so as to complete the task in stipulated time. They said that it is a lifeline project keeping in view the Covid 19 scenario and hence should be taken on priority basis for the safety and wellbeing of the patients.

The officers were accompanied by BMO Hajin Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Officials from Information Department and other concerned officials.The team also inspected the Covid Level-II Hospital Hajin wherein as on date two Covid patients were admitted. Officers interacted with the patients to get feedback about quality of services being provided and reviewed COVID-19 facilities being provided to the patients.

Bandipora court remands DDC member to 10 days police custody in Tehsildar's assault case

Srinagar, July 05 (KNO): A local court in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Monday remanded a district development council (DDC) member of Jammu and Kashmir Apni party to 10 days police custody.

Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that chief judicial magistrate Bandipora remanded Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Rather, a DDC member from Arin block of Bandipora district to 10 days police custody in a case of assault of Tehsildar Bandipora.

They said that the court directed the investigating officer to get the accused person medically examined under rules and expedite the investigation into the case.

Notably, Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Rather of JK Apni Party was booked and arrested under sections 307 (attempt to murder), 392 (punishment for robbery) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging his duty) after he allegedly assaulted tehsildar Bandipora during a road inspection work in Kudara village on Saturday.

An official said that the accused DDC member had assaulted Tehsildar Bandipora, Sheikh Tariq when he was accompanying ACR Bandipora to inspecting the construction of a road in Kudara village.

It is pertinent to mention that the accused DDC member had joined the JK Apni Party recently after winning DDC election from Arin block—(KNO)

*Bandipora: Usman Colony Shahgund Inhabitants Protest Over Water Scarcity*

Bandipora, Jul 5 (GNS): Scores of residents, majority of which included local women folk, from Usman Colony Shahgund here in the district Monday staged a protest against department of Jal Shakti department over scarcity of potable water in the area.

The protestors assembled in the premises of Jal Shakti Department (previously PHE Department) at Irrigation Colony Sumbal, raising slogans against the department concerned.

Talking to GNS, the agitated locals said that they have been facing an acute shortage of drinking water, alleging that despite several appraisals the department concerned was yet to look into the matter. In the absence of clean drinking water, we are being forced to consume water from a nearby nallah, which may result in the breakout of any disease especially in children and old-aged persons, they said.

When contacted, a Jal Shakti Department official told GNS that the department has a single functional water tanker to cater the public in sub-division Sumbal. “We early had five water tankers, of which four have went defunct over the time, leaving us with a single tanker to supply the water”, the official said adding that Given the dearth of tankers', it is getting difficult for them to reach people simultaneously, though they have been 'trying their best' to facilitate as much people as they can. *Wildlife Department Captures Leopard in Rampur Boniyar*

Baramulla, Jul 4 (GNS): A team of Wildlife Department captured a leopard in Rampur Boniyar area in frontier Uri town here in the district on Sunday evening.

Official sources told GNS said that on complaints of frequent sightings of the leopard in and around residential areas, a trap was laid by the department some ten days back near Army’s 106 Brigade camp. The leopard was finally captured this evening, they said.

Confirming it, Range Officer Wildlife Department Baramulla Altaf Koul told GNS that presence of the wild animal had off late created much panic among the local inhabitants. It (leopard) would be sent Dachigam Park tomorrow on arrangement of a vehicle, he said.

We have installed several cage at several other places across the district to trap the roaming beasts, he further said.

Meanwhile, the locals have hailed the efforts of Wildlife Department in capturing the beast. (GNS)

The water supply scheme made in 2005 in Bakhshi-Bal of Hajin Tehsil is still awaiting completion. The water supply scheme build on the bank of the Jhelum River in Bakhshibal was left incomplete despite of 80 percent complete of work on the water scheme project and the locals have to use the sewage for drinking water. Due to which local people can suffer from various diseases.
The locals appealed to the higher officials of PHE department and DC Bandipora to make the scheme functional as soon as possible.
