War movies are a rigorous genre of filmmaking, and much more so when you're working on an indie-level budget. J.P. Watts strove to do exactly that with his feature directorial debut The War Below. Even more daunting was the particular aspect of the war that Watts chose to focus upon in the film.

The War Below focuses on a less-known area of World War I in its story of tunnel diggers recruited to dig a path underneath No Man's Land. The tight, claustrophobic setting presented Watts and his cast and crew with many challenges to work around in crafting a war movie in such a setting on limited resources. Despite these challenges, The War Below ultimately came together impressively.

After Paul Walker died in 2013 during the filming of Furious 7, director James Wan faced the difficult task of giving Walker's character, Brian O'Conner, a proper send-off from the franchise. Producer Neal Moritz said that in the immediate aftermath of Walker's death, they were so lost that they thought they would have to cancel the movie, but instead its ending had to be changed.

Walker's death came as a shock to everyone. While in Santa Clarita, CA for a fundraiser, the Fast & Furious star met up with his business partner, race car driver Roger Rodas. Walker and Rodas went for a joy ride in a Porsche Carrera GT, but the ride ended in tragedy with Walker losing his life. Although he had finished most of his on-camera work for Furious 7, the film ultimately had to be rewritten in order to fill in the gaps left by Walker's untimely death and explain why Brian wouldn't be in future sequels.

Zack Snyder has unveiled new posters for Netflix's upcoming Army of Thieves movie. A prequel to Snyder's highly streamed blockbuster, Army of the Dead, which came out in May 2021, Army of Thieves centers on the jumpy and quirky safecracker, Ludwig Dieter, played by Matthias Schweighöfer. The movie is set during the initial stages of the zombie outbreak, and it focuses on the early days of Ludwig's career as he is hired by a mysterious woman to pull off a heist with the help of a bunch of unlikely, aspiring criminals. Schweighöfer is directing the movie, with Snyder attached as a writer and executive producer.

After the huge popularity and positive reception of Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves expands Snyder's new multimedia franchise on Netflix further. The new movie, however, features much fewer zombies, and the focus is more on the rom-com and heist elements of Ludwig's adventures. A few months back, fans got their first glimpse of Army of Thieves when a teaser trailer confirming the movie's October 29 premiere date was released during a Comic-Con@Home panel. And recently, the film's official trailer was also revealed at the Netflix global fan event, TUDUM. Now, Snyder has shared more promotional material from the movie.

Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell will star in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Mr. Harrigan’s Phone. Last year, Blumhouse and Ryan Murphy announced they were teaming up with Netflix to adapt King’s short story, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, for the small screen. Derived from King’s four-part novella collection If It Bleeds, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is the first tale in the best-selling series.

Per THR, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone has cast Sutherland (The Hunger Games) as Harrigan and Martell (King’s It) as Craig. Written and directed by John Lee Hancock, the film adaptation is expected to debut in 2022. Sutherland’s career has spanned five decades, and he was recently seen in HBO’s The Undoing. Martell, who portrayed Bill Dengrough in King's It, is next set to star in the upcoming reboot of The Lost Boys.

James Gunn can't wait to see Paul Thomas Anderson's new movie, Licorice Pizza. Anderson is the acclaimed auteur behind films like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, and The Master. His most recent film, The Phantom Thread, was released in 2017 and featured Daniel Day-Lewis' last performance before his unexpected retirement from acting the same year. Throughout the pandemic, Anderson has been working on his next film which stars two largely unknown leads in Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman. The supporting cast includes Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Bradley Cooper, Benny Safdie, Maya Rudolph, Ben Stiller, and John C. Reilly.

On the other hand, James Gunn has become an auteur in his own right for his most recent film, The Su***de Squad, which was a hit with critics and audiences alike. This is not to mention his entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Guardians of the Galaxy and its 2017 sequel. Gunn also has a number of intriguing projects lined up such as Peacemaker, set to air on HBO Max in January of next year. His third and final Guardians film is set for a May 2023 release date but before that, a Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will air on Disney+ in December 2022.

The Addams Family 2, premiering in theaters and On Demand on October 1, is ready to introduce viewers to a brand-new Pugsley. Young talent Javon 'Wanna' Walton, who has been impressing audiences with performances in live-action series with dark themes such as Euphoria and Utopia, steps into voice acting for the first time. His animated debut comes at a tipping point for America's kookiest family, leading to one heck of a road trip.

When teenage angst begins to hit eldest daughter Wednesday (Chloë Grace Moretz, Tom and Jerry) pretty hard, her father Gomez (Oscar Isaac, Dune) quickly engineers a cross-country family bonding session before his children go too far out of his reach. But their problems may be harder to patch up than he thought because a spooky family secret insists on coming along for the ride.
