🚨🛑UNFORTUNATE UPDATE 🛑🚨

Honestly, kind of speechless at the moment.

We found out today that we have been REMOVED from the agenda to voice our public safety concerns at this Monday’s city council meeting …AND also the gentleman who was supposed to be presenting the petition WITH 800 signatures is also NOT allowed to be on the agenda!

🚨The Mayor of Tipton is not allowing anyone to be put on the agenda for this upcoming city council meeting…if it concerns the 4-WAY STOPS. 🚨

The public can still voice their concerns once the meeting is completed, this is under the “public comments” portion BUT this is also AFTER the vote on whether or not to make the 4-stops permanent.

Since our voices cannot be heard, your presence at the city council meeting is more IMPORTANT than ever!!! 🛑Please show your support for public safety and the future of Tipton’s downtown by attending the meeting THIS Monday, October 9 at 5:30! 🛑

⭐️HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP! ⭐️
1. ATTEND the next public city council meeting, Monday, October 9 at 5:30
2. EMAIL your city council members (see below for their voting history 🛑🚦and email addresses)
3. SHARE this post to get the word out
4. Call the Mayor’s office (765) 675-7561

This is the city councils FINAL VOTE before the 4-way stops become ⭐️ permanent⭐️(voting is this Monday at the city council meeting)!

🛑Sophie Hufford - District 1 (voted for permanent 4-way stops)
[email protected]

🚦Rick Chandler - District 3 (voted to keep traffic lights)
[email protected]

🛑 Rick Rippy - Councilman At-Large (voted for permanent 4-way stops)
[email protected]

🛑Nathan Kring - District 4 (voted for permanent 4-way stops)
[email protected]

🛑 Ken Ehman - District 2 (voted for permanent 4-way stops)
[email protected]

Thank you!

The Tipton Police Department is accepting pre-applications for the position of police officer.

Certified officers in good standing with ILEA Tier 1, or out of state waiver eligibility, wishing to make a lateral transfer are encouraged to apply.

From October 5, 2023 throughout the remainder of the calendar year, pre-applications can be downloaded from the City of Tipton website by clicking the link above. Pre-applications can also be picked up in-person at the Tipton Police Department, which is located at 225 E. Jefferson Street Tipton, Indiana 46072.

Completed pre-applications can either be emailed to [email protected], or turned in at the Tipton Police Department via US Mail or in-person as soon as possible.

The physical agility testing dates, times, and locations will be announced at a later time. ILEA’s entry standards will be used for TPD testing and those standards can be found here https://www.in.gov/ilea/physical-fitness-standards/.

The comprehensive written testing will be held on on the same day as the physical agility testing. Again - dates, times, and locations will be announced at a later time. Applicants successfully completing the physical testing will be eligible to participate in the written testing.

Applicants successfully completing both physical and written testing will be provided with a full application. Completed full applications and all required documentation needs to be turned in at the Tipton Police Department via US Mail or in-person upon completion.

The Tipton Police Department consists of fifteen police officer positions and the City of Tipton population is in excess of 5,000. The budget for 2024 includes a starting annual salary of $52,311 for a Probationary Officer (year one). Upon completion of the probationary period, a Second Class Officer (years two and three) earns an annual salary $56,206. 2. Shall be a U.S. citizen.

3. Shall be at least 21 years of age, and must be less than 40 years of age by date of appointment. Age requirements are set by Indiana statute for 1977 PERF agencies.

5. Shall not have a conviction for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, or operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or above.

11. Shall have vision correctable to 20/50.

12. Shall live in Tipton County OR an adjoining county to Tipton County and within a thirty (30) mile radius of the City of Tipton boundary.

Applicants with a current ILEA Tier 1 certification or out-of-state applicants that will qualify for an ILEA waiver will be excused from any physical or written testing portions in the hiring process.

A certified lateral officer, selected for the police officer position within the Tipton Police Department, will be eligible to receive a one-time five thousand dollar ($5,000) lateral transfer award. This monetary incentive is payable to the lateral officer within thirty (30) days of employment. A certified lateral officer’s years of service, up to ten years, will transfer to the Tipton Police Department in terms of longevity pay and vacation time.

Please share this exciting opportunity with everyone you know that is interested in beginning their law enforcement career!

Questions may be submitted by emailing [email protected] or by calling the Tipton Police Department at 765-675-2152.
