On first day of 2023, Varkala beach area was littered with plastic waste, bottles and all kinds of stuffs left by new year revelers.
It's a sorry sight to see, especially when we know that such sights will leave a bad impression on tourists.
So, what can authorities do to do something about this?
1. Ask help from Japanese Govt. ( Btw, we know that Japanese people take public cleanliness as a personal responsibility. Probably, Varkala municipality can seek out some financial help from J**s)
2. On weekends or during festivities, Varkala municipality can charge visitors Rs 10 towards beach cleanup. They can set up a special team of ladies to pick thrash and also find a way to dispose it.
3. Restaurant, hotel owners, and concerned citizens of Varkala can conduct weekly beach cleaning task.
4. Add more trash bins.

Where did the sandy beach disappear? One month back, this spot was a place where many people did surfing lessons also splashed around. Now only rocks are visible.
