Last but definitely no least we have Yvonne Addai! Yvonne is our producer and this release wouldn’t have happened without her.

Yvonne Addai is an Ghanaian- Canadian Actor/ Artist Educator and Artistic Associate of Ay Caramba! Theatre .She is a graduate from the University of Saskatchewan BFA acting program. She has had the opportunity to work on stages in Saskatchewan and now calls Toronto home. She was also part of the 2019.2020 Factory Theatre’s Mechanicals program under the Leadership of Nina lee Aquino and Natasha Mumba. Along with acting, Yvonne is passionate about the importance of art education and creation with children. She works with Young People’s Theatre as an artist educator.

Her selected theatre credits include The Tempest ( Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan) An Atlas and Other Concerns (Toronto Fringe) Monday Night (Highway 55 Production/Live 5 ), Overhear ( Nutrien Fringe Saskatoon), Pride & Prejudice (Persephone Theatre) ,The Shorts Cuts festival (Hardly Art Theatre) ,The Woodcutter and the Lion ( Sum Theatre) and Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Theatre Naught/ Live Five). She is honoured and excited to be joining the creative team of The Trick To Walking Backwards.

Say hello to Marissa Orjalo! Marissa plays the role of the Fairy Maid in “The Trick to Walking Backwards” and she functioned as one of our sound designers and music composers!

Marissa is an interdisciplinary Filipina-Canadian artist based in Toronto, Canada. She is currently an M.A. candidate at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Drama, Theatre, and Performance Studies; her research areas of interest include Asian-Canadian Theatre, Multiracial Theatre Performance, and Radical Theatre Creation through Technology and Music. As a trained Operatic vocalist and Piano performer with the Royal Conservatory of Music, Marissa is honoured to have had the opportunity to collaborate on The Trick to Walking Backwards’ music and sound design. Marissa is currently creating with the Disconnect(ed) Collective at Carlos Bulosan Theatre, developing a new piece entitled Pedestal Pinays. Jabari Brown is a Trinidad Raised Half Jamaican Half Guyanese Animator. He is currently pursuing a M.F.A in Animation at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He discovered animation by accident when he was 10 and playing with a we**am in his parents’ study and it’s something that stuck with him ever since. As this is his first venture into acting Jabari learned a lot during the course of production. Put your hands together for Chelsea Persad! She plays Mrs. Jacobs in “The Trick to Walking Backwards”.

Chelsea is a Trinidadian singer and writer. She spent her teen years balancing academics and arts and succeeded in both as an Open Scholarship winner, as well as, as the lead singer of the alternative rock band ‘Haven Close’. At nineteen, she migrated to London where she spent four years completing her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing and her MA in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship and Leadership. She has found success as the lead singer in the duo LesitoxChelsea which was featured several times on BBC Introducing Radio. Being a writer at heart, she is always practicing with emphasis on poetry, prose and song-writing. She is thrilled to be working with Aria and such a wonderful team of people. Amy is a digital content creator based in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2016 she earned her BA (Cum Laude) in Marketing with Entrepreneurship at The College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago. While she has worked for many reputable local ad agencies, she is now self-employed as a digital content creator/contractor. This gives her time to not only sharpen existing skills and talents but to deep dive into her world of untapped passion and potential. She currently enjoys vlogging, editing, dancing and cooking. Say hello to Joshua Joseph who plays Roy and Mr. Taylor in “The Trick to Walking Backwards”.

Joshua is an educator and musician hailing from Trinidad and Tobago. Currently he is an elementary music teacher and an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of The West Indies. He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music where he received a B.Mus in Music Education. Currently he is pursuing a PG.Dip in Arts and Cultural Enterprise Management at the University of The West Indies. He has performed for the likes of Esperanza Spalding and Nile Rodgers. An active educator and musician, Joshua constantly seeks out new experiences, further developing his role in the Performing Arts industry. A lover of musical theatre, he has been involved with musical theatre companies both locally and internationally, and credits Must Come See productions for kindling his flame for the theatre. Notable roles include: Chino (West Side Story) and The Steward (Into The Woods). Thanks to Aria for providing the chance to work alongside her once again.

Now here is Aria Sharma who plays Demi in “The Trick to Walking Backwards”! She is also the writer and director as well as one half of the sound design and music composition team .

Aria Sharma is an interdisciplinary artist from Trinidad and Tobago whose practice has taken her to Canada and beyond. In 2019 she earned her BA in Theatre and Drama Studies from the joint acting program between University of Toronto and Sheridan College. After graduation she was lucky enough to participate in Factory Theatre’s actor training enhancement program and she is currently an MA candidate at the University of Toronto in the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies with a focus on transnational voices in theatre.

Her recent work includes: ensemble/creator of Under Attack (Thespo), assistant director and musical director of Much Ado About Nothing (Theatre Erindale) and acting roles for In the Next Room (Theatre Erindale), Metamorphoses (Theatre Erindale), and Twelfth Night (Theatre Erindale). This is her first attempt to create an audioplay and she could not have done it without the wonderfully talented and giving artists that made up the creative team and cast.

Let’s learn a bit more about Shannon Salick! Shannon plays the roles of Delta and Douen 1 in “The Trick to Walking Backwards”.

Shannon is an Indian-Trinidadian first year student in the Faculty of Arts at McGill University. She is currently pursuing a bachelor of arts in Gender, Sexuality, Feminist and Social Justice Studies with Hispanic Studies. She has a passion for activism, especially human rights activism, and an interest in learning about new cultures. In high school, Shannon was a member of her performing arts club and participated in the Secondary Schools Short Film Festival 2014 where her group placed first and she received the award for Best Actress. Shannon plans to continue being a member of the performing arts community in Montreal and plans to incorporate her activism in her works on stage. Shannon Salick
