Salinas Salt Spring
Nestled in Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya, the Salinas Salt Spring, once hailed as one of the '7 Wonders of the Philippines,' unfolds a tale of geological beauty from the late 1900s.
A mountain producing salt for millions of years birthed the Salinas Salt Spring— resembling a hill adorned with glistening salt crystals. Viewed from afar, it resembled a radiant gem amid a forested mountain.
The Salinas Salt Spring found its place in literature through the July 1974 Official Gazette, Copyright Claims Registered Under Presidential Decree 49. The legend of the springs came to life in the work of Mr. Johnny Lantion Baluyan, a celebrated Novo Vizcayano poet, in his piece "Legend of the Salinas Salt Springs" dated 18 July 1974. This was likewise originally written by Mr. Domingo Baluyan. A mural can be seen at the Capitol Complex, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Though time may have dimmed its immediate recognition, the Salinas Salt Spring's enchantment lives on in poetic verses. Join me in rediscovering this timeless wonder that once graced the Philippine landscape. Share your stories on the comments below!
