China has moved in as the economic hegemon in these countries supporting, and Africa and the ME in general, I would be very surprised for the map to look like anything but this. It's basically just the present-day version of the first and second worlds, if you want to escape US hegemony you have to belly-up to China. Sure, they're not perpetrating a holocaust against Uighurs like the US propaganda machine insists. Pretty low bar. It's an empire playing geopolitics while struggling with an internal geography problem: maintaining the Chinese nation-state, which means 1) pacifying the potentially hostile ethnic group that populates its entire northwestern quadrant, and 2) controlling Tibet and thus controlling critical water sources for neighboring countries to the south while keeping India on the other side of the Himalayas.

Without the US enabling Chinese growth via trade protection as they did for the last 50+ years, China will be forced to sink or swim as its own pole of global capital.

I'm astonished how people can look at what is essentially still a Han empire doing what it always has, steamrolling surrounding cultures and ethnicities out of existence via a mixed process of sublation and conquest to secure their power politically and geographically, and think, "well they're POC and have a red flag and the British and Spanish did it with so much more brutality so really it's a good thing bc how else is China going to secure the existence of their nation and a future for the Communist world?"

In 321 BCE during the second Samnite war, the main Roman army was surrounded and captured at Caudine Forks. The Samnite leader wrote to his father, a more experienced commander, asking advice on what to do with the Romans. The father replied that he should return the Romans to Rome with the highest of courtesy. This seeming out of character, the commander was confused and wrote his father again for confirmation. This time, the reply was to slaughter every last soldier. When the father arrived at Caudine Forks, he explained that they must choose either total mercy or total brutality. The former would ensure the gratitude and amiability of the Romans for the foreseeable future. The latter would mean neutralizing an entire generation of enemies. The commander chose a third option, and allowed the Romans to leave but humiliated them on the way out by using spears to force them to bow (a grave insult to the Romans). The Romans then returned to besiege not just a smattering of Samnite cities, but the entirety of Samnite territory, which would soon fall to the Romans with the rest of the Italian peninsula.

Leftists refuse to seriously look further back then the 1800s, with a minority also obsessing over the French revolution of the 1700s but no further back. However in much of the world, present material conditions and the complex web of relations between groups cannot be properly understood without delving into a larger time scale of history, as so many of these groups have cohesive histories going back several hundreds to even thousands of years.

For example, the French colonial power in Syria used the Druze and Alawite minority groups to fill up the state apparatus (since they were happy to participate in the subjugation of the Sunni majority). Today, the Druze no longer hold this position, while Asad and much of the high-level government are still Alawite, and some 80% of Alawites are employed in government in one way or another. The reasons for why one group retained power while the other backslid have roots going back to the creation of these religious sects circa (broadly) 800-1000 CE.

And don't even get me started on the huge civilizational and technological differences in the ancient world (going back to say least 3000 BCE) between east asia and the eventually highly interconnected civilizations of the middle east, Africa, and the Mediterranean pre- bronze age collapse (~1177 BCE). The fact that east asia was relatively untouched by this major event spanning 3 continents has way more implications for the modern geopolitical situation than one would tend to imagine. The increasing unification of the Chinese tribes allowed for the building of a major empire which exerted major influence on the evolution (and disappearance) of cultural identities through all of east and southeast asia. An understanding of relations between china and southeast asia, especially Vietnam, will always be incomplete without delving into that early history.

TIL: "The Qassem regime in Iraq, which lasted for five years as a pure balancing act, was finally brought down in 1963 when the moderate nationalist, Aref (Abdel Salam), persuaded all political factions, from left-wing Ba'ath to right-wing conservatives, to combine against the supposed Communist pe*******on in government.*

"*One of the danger signs was the fact that Qassem started calling his opponents 'fascist Hi**erites'. Adolf Hi**er is a popular figure with most shades of Arab opinion and only an unthinking transposition of Soviet habits could have led to the use of this epithet."

"One modern engineer has calculated that it would take 300 years to build Angkor Wat today, but Suryavarman committed enough laborers to get the project finished around the end of his 37 year reign."¹

Similarly, the magnificent scale of ancient Egyptian structures is the result of an isolated society that channeled virtually all of their surplus labor into monument building while neglecting scientific, technological, and military advancement in general.

The proliferation of alien conspiracy theories about how ancient civilizations couldn't have built such massive monuments isn't just a projection of modern racism, it's symptomatic of the inability to imagine outside of the capitalist era where all surplus labor is tied up in the game of wealth begetting wealth.

To acknowledge that even ancient civilizations had so much surplus labor they could achieve such feats would require one to recognize the farce by which we are all trapped chasing below-subsistence wages. Imagine what could be done with all that surplus labor if it weren't subject to the whims of egomaniacal kings and pharaohs and the modern international ruling class of profiteers.

Lobsterites, quake with fear for I am the future genius (IQ=435) that will: (a) find the secret principle of the universe; (b) embody Henry Adams' (IQ=190) famous 1910 “call for the aid of another Newton" (IQ=215), someone who comes forth to give the “complete solution”, as Adams, who worked on the problem through Gibbs (IQ=200), Clausius (IQ=205), Darwin (IQ=175), etc., put it, to the elective affinities problem: explaining morality, sociology, economics, and history according to chemistry, physics, and mechanics, via pure mathematics, symbols, figures, and one "common formula"—in a sense, the "new Goethe" (IQ=230); (c) be the final version of Nietzsche’s (IQ=190) 1883 prophesized “final Übermensch”; and (d) solve, among other things, the: gravity/electromagnetic force problem, double slit problem, accelerating universe problem, and the spin-coupling problem (see: modern queries)—all integrated with new findings in particle physics, the final version of quantum mechanics, among other new experimental findings that may arise, all subsumed under the auspices of first law (fundamental law) and second law (supreme law) of thermodynamics—the only science, of universal content, "least likely", in the words of Einstein (IQ=220), to ever be overthrown, you cuck ❄️.
