🇳🇬 Wizkid 🗣: "The fact that I'm Nigerian does not mean all my music should be labeled as Afrobeats. It's like saying all American artists do hip hop. My last album, Made in Lagos, was not Afrobeats. That was Afrofusion.

Nigerians should use Google and do research. Fela created Afrobeats, but I make all sorts of music. The reason why we keep creating music and only end up being nominated in African categories is because our people only want us to identify as Afrobeats artists, but I'm an artist and I no go gree with anybody this year."

Paul Alexander, known as… "the man in the iron lung" or "Polio Paul", passed away this week 💔
Paul was left paralyzed after getting polio in 1952 when he was just 6.

He could only move his head, neck and mouth and almost died before doctors put him in an iron lung. It was this machine that kept him alive for 72 years...

May his soul rest in peace 🙏

The other time, young Rema was at the HEADIES & MTV EMA awards, & spoke intelligently about Afrobeats, defending the culture & putting it in the spotlight.

Last night, Wizkid came out to say he's not an afrobeats artiste; following in the footsteps of Burna Boy who had earlier made the same claim. And these are 2 of the biggest players in the Afrobeats culture.

What precedents are they setting with these statements? What legacies & hopes are they leaving the younger artistes?

What's the future of the genre & the culture??

Odumodublvck approached Tems for a feature, & he said Tems charged him 500k dollars. Man ran away because he apparently couldn't afford that. He then turned to Tiwa Savage for a feature, & obviously, Tiwa charged him what is within his reach, or maybe, she didn't charge him a dime.

He roll down his jacket 🧥 Worth millions of niara and intended to trow it into the crowd but his security man wasn't happy about he's decision 😒
