QuantumLEAP: Leap Back to Reality
On June 20 and 21 of 2022, the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) and its 48 accredited organizations, along with the University Student Government (USG) and other offices in the university held the annual Lasallian Enrichment Alternative Program (LEAP) entitled QuantumLEAP, to holistically develop Lasallian students and nurture their special interests through offering different productive classes.
It is no longer a secret that no synchronous sessions would be conducted in both senior high and undergraduate level of DLSU Manila and Laguna to give way for LEAP, but that was not the sole reason students awaited for this 2-day event. What made this year’s LEAP extra special is the fact that after two long years, students were able to witness the Lasallian spirit beyond virtual experience with LEAP’s onsite activities.
With the slow transition from virtual to onsite classes, it was truly the perfect time to offer alternative classes onsite to highlight the beginning of students’ onsite university journey. With that, stepping away from the screens that students had long been immersed in and finally integrating themselves into the new normal was the guiding principle of QuantumLEAP. The theme, “Quantum” was chosen because it perfectly encapsulates the major shift from online to on-site setting that students will experience through the event.
During LEAP day 1, all of the classes were held online. Though the setup was restricting and limited, students still had a blast as the activities prepared by the different organizations were engaging and captivating. There were also marshals during the online classes to answer concerns and ensure that the classes were smooth-sailing.
When it came to day 2, the atmosphere was completely different as on-site classes were already held. After years of being in an online setup, students did not miss the opportunity– they crowded the grounds of the De La Salle University-Manila campus to visit and, at the same time, attend their respective LEAP classes. It was a day filled with excitement, fun, and interaction. Marshals were still present, however, now, they were distinguishable as they wore a full-on purple outfit, keeping in line with the QuantumLeap theme.
QuantumLEAP surely reignited the Lasallian spirit with its informative and fun-filled series of online and onsite activities, marking another successful LEAP! With the kickoff of onsite activities for this year, it is no doubt that more exciting and mind-boggling activities in the face-to-face set up are in line for Lasallians.
