The curbside garden is doing so well. Full sun and no irrigation. This is so vibrant and captivating. Simple, yet effective. Only 3 variety of plants; canna for the height (they’re struggling in that department), coleus for the filler (needs some maintenance) and bandanna lantana for more filler and a little spiller. The colors splay so well with each other.
I see why many individuals come up the street, stop, gossip, even take a few pics… before they leave. Many aren’t expecting to see this on a side street in the city. The hibiscus? I thought it was dead but it came back full force and doubled in size. I tried moving it last season but only got a small piece of the root. I’ll be moving it once it goes dormant. She’s so gorgeous, isn’t she????!!!!!!

It’s and before the week ends, here are a few of my favs. It’s been 4 years since the 1st photo was shared online and it’s still one of, if not the most talked about hibiscus photo *insert nene meme*……
Photo 2 is edge of knight. The smallest hibiscus I currently have in my garden. She’s compact at 3x3 compared to others. I love how the pink blooms pop against the dark foliage.
Photo 3 is candy crush. My absolute favorite. She’s not as curvaceous as the others, yet she’s still striking and a show stopper with the blooms. She’s a cutie paired with pinky winky hydrangeas.
Photo 4 is holy grail. This one doesn’t need any introduction! Big, bold, and beautiful!
Photo 5 is evening rose. I no longer have that hibiscus. It died on me but will be replanting 3 this fall in a new bed I’m creating, yes I’m expanding after I said I was finished. 🫣😩 let me know in the comments if you got a hibiscus because of me, please 🙇🏽‍♀️

A big kid in a candy store full of hydrangeas. A core memory I’ll cherish and replay over and over again!!! Wheeewww 🫣🥰🥰 thank you so much. This event has renewed my love for flowers, inspired me to try new things and motivated me to get back in the field. Just what I needed.

It’s time for some mid season garden maintenance. From the vine to the weeds need to be tamed. Roses need deadheading, daylilies as well. Will it get done? Absolutely not 😆. My daughter wants her room renovated, so I’ll be focusing on that.
The fountain base had a small leak, so I had to seal it. Will be up and running by this coming weekend. Still have 1 more obelisk to paint *insert nene meme*. I’ll tend to things eventually, but it won’t be today, tomorrow nor next week.

I can never capture this bed fully. It’s very narrow and long but full of beautiful things. Todays high is 94°, let’s see how these incrediball hydrangeas withstand the heat here in their new zone 8a. I’m still adjusting, I’ll forever be a zone 7, girl.

Rainbow Rhythm ‘Orange Smoothie’ Daylily…. I have a few different varieties in the garden. Daylily just add so much texture early on in the season and once they start to bloom, even more beautiful. I can put them in a dry area, no problem. Soggy area, no problem. I throw them everywhere in the garden the same way people use parsley on everything 😅.

You can never go wrong with a lemony lace elderberry! From the leafy texture to the chartreuse color, it’s the right amount of “you’re not doing enough, so I’m doing the most”… for the garden. She’s just that girl! Period. She’s under planted with Dolce wildberry heuchera.

“How do you keep the chickens out the garden beds?”….. I don’t. They are apart of the garden. Yes, they scratch out the mulch looking for worms and insects. Yes, they p**p wherever they see fit. Yes, they lay eggs in the garden beds… 😩😩😩 but it comes with the territory when you decide to free range than keep them enclosed. I do lock them in at night to keep them safe from predators. It’s scary in these Baltimore streets.

This area has truly matured into its own. All the layers, texture and colors play so well together.
My new focus is the back bed. It was and still is planted, but I’m slowly taking out all the plants and starting over fresh. A blank slate. Excited to share my new vision.

Construction on the inside is finally complete. Putting in a few hours outside today. Clear the area, paint, adding fresh gravel, top dressing the beds with compost and strip the door. The door was from an old house, solid wood door with layers of paint. I want to strip it all off. Might not get to it today, but it’s on the list. I’m also on the hunt for an outside light that matches the look. This solar is cute, but not given what I need.

Current state of the “fountain cottage”. VS late spring/early summer. The weather is now consistently low 70’s, so I will be tackling this area this weekend. I also have a few clearance plants from last season to plant as well. My obelisks are calling for help. Last spring I torched them… I don’t like this weathered look at all. Going to paint and seal 😬, my favorite thing to do.

Will be planting again this season. Obsessed! 😍

Kamoya, Garden Addictz, sent us this picture of Luscious Citron lantana and shared her experience..." Whether in a pot or landscape, she will perform. The hotter the area, the better the performance. She leaves no space unturned, blooming its head off continuously until frost".

Our Luscious Lantana are easy to grow and attract all types of pollinators. Perfect in containers or your landscape. The bright colors of the twelve options we offer will brighten your outdoor space for months, with little to no work required! Check out the colors we offer... pwwin.rs/LLant24

Going over old photos, gathering inspiration for this season. This little area is packed with texture, color and movement. As you can see, you don’t need a large space to make a statement.

Let’s pretend this is New York or LA, how much rent should I charge? 👀🤣🤣🤣 Friends It’s bitter sweet. I removed the stove to add more storage. And I’m loving it, I love everything BTB and I do together… honestly. Removing the stove freed up so much space. I honestly don’t miss the stove…. Yet 🫣🤣 Functionality A+++ We got the base cabinets installed today because Bob the builder means business!
Next is to adjust some minor details with the countertop, then to burn and seal the counter top to match the shelves already there. Nothing is secured as yet. 2: add baseboard to the bottom for a seamless look. 3: Remove the bottom shelves, it’s too close to the countertop OR move all 6 shelves higher. 4. Paint cabinets. And hopefully the rest of the space. 5: Plan a get away vacation for BTB, he never disappoints when it comes to delivering! 6: finish removing the exhaust pipe and fix the hole. Potting station is up next.

Believe me when I say this; I throw plants together that I like and that I think would look good together. No set plan or deep research 😕 Some survive and thrive. While others die and are sent off to yonder. Hit or miss. Trial and error. That’s how you learn. No amount of books, tv shows, seminars etc can teach you better than experience itself. Yes, they might give you some knowledge, but experience is the best teacher. You have enough garden books, you’ve watched enough YouTube videos. Just go out there start! Get out your head babes.
This journey reminds me that transformations are created through dedication and TIME! So embrace the process of it all and enjoy the journey along the way. You got this. I’ve cried, been frustrated, gave up several times, but I always got up and tried again. Everything takes time. This season was the best this area ever looked. I guess it’s true… everything gets better with time and so will you ❤️

Then vs Now. Amazing growth! Sunpatiens started off slow and miserable. They wilted everyday for 2 weeks, and yes I was frustrated and ready to pull them out. Everyday I had to give them extra water. But once they got a footing, they took OFF! Supertunia visa mini snowdrift…. Love!!!!! I can now say that I love the mini series more than the regular vistas. They are more compact in growth and just neat.
The chartreuse colored vine is creeping Jenny. Be careful, it can get out of hand. I love it here in this space, so every month I trim it back and pull it up from places I don’t like.
The hay racks have a mixture of geraniums, which are beautiful when blooming. HOWEVER, I had to constantly deadhead in order for continuous blooms. Not a fan of that. Also have Superbells holycow and supertunia Royal velvet. Can’t think of the grasses I have here at the moment.

Fall 21’. It was magical and so many of my garden friends loved it. I used limelight hydrangea blooms to lined the path, with ornamental cabbage and pansies. It was a hit. The limelight’s were REAL. I had a few individuals tried to argue me back to hell that they were fake 😂 I have a 50+ foot hedge of limelight hydrangea shrubs. No need to use fake hydrangeas. The soil was moist and the weather cool, so they lasted about a week green before they started to change to the winter brown look.
It was an experiment, that I ended up loving and would do again with minor tweaks. This fall I have nothing planned. Only focus is finding some spring bulbs, compost the area and put it to sleep.

What a transformation! This area is still developing and I don’t think there is an end date. Can you believe this is the 2nd season of this area? Last spring (April 1st, 2022) we cleaned up and fenced in this space. Then last fall we started the greenhouse project. WOW 😩 I’m so impressed with what I can do with little $$ , some creativity and the muscles of my husband 🤣.
I’m obsessing over the supertunia minis this season. So compact, yet still vigorous. This is supertunia mini vista white, paired with Sunpatiens, and graceful grasses “fireworks”… I think.
The containers have 2 topiary evergreens I bought from marketplace, impulsive buy 😅. Under planted luscious Royal lemon 🍋 tart lantana (love this vivid yellow), superbells pink lemonade and a regular pink superbells. Haystacks have holy cow superbells, supertunia Royal velvet, lobelia and some geraniums. Boy those geraniums take work, just to keep them blooming.

I’m over this rain. Every. Single. Day. Root rot is wiping out the alyssums. My irrigation system hasn’t been on for 4 weeks now. The begonias are yellowing and weeds are on steroids. Pull them today, back within 3 business days! Wettest summer I’ve experienced in a very long time.
The left side is slightly higher than the right, so the left isn’t as affected other than one that’s at the end of the path. But they are showing signs, when you get close up on them. 2 more thunderstorms and they will be gone as well 🫤

Almost 1 full year since I created this small bed. So much has changed since. Last fall I bought some clearance hydrangeas and totem pole grasses. Hydrangeas doubled in size and the totem poles are growing nicely. Of course the weeds are there with all the rain we’ve had. They make the area extra lush 😅.
Out of all the annuals I’ve tried this season, supertunia mini vista yellow is killing the show! Such a powerful plant. Next season I will use it again but somewhere else. The yellow of the vista and the yellow/lime green of the hydrangeas are clashing. But overall such an amazing, hard working annual.

Are my lambs ear not getting enough water or too much??? 🫤 Good morning! This middle bed is filling in and looking great. Progression of this space took 3 seasons. I will be focusing on a little maintenance today for this space.
The back bed is still a work in progress, I’ll share an update on that later. Struggling with overgrowth of poison oak and poison ivy in that bed. 🫤😩

Happy Sunday! I’m just now getting around to cutting back the spent tulips 😅. They’ve been dried for 2 weeks now and…. Well….. I have some free time now.
Snow princess alyssum is loving its life in this area, 1st time in my garden and a repeat planting for sure. Phlox still going strong, Invincibelle spirit II hydrangeas coming into bloom, daylilies will be bursting with color in another week or so, oak leaf hydrangea showing out. When all those start to fade, my panicle hydrangeas (pinky winky) and hibiscuses will steal the show.
I removed the obelisk to give them a little makeover. The raw wood started to fade and disclosed a little, not a fan of that look.
