This week's guest on the New Music & Artist Show is Living Proof. Tune-in for a Livestream interview @ 7 PM CDT
First up is this weekâs guest on the New Music & Artist show, Realxty and his song, âTherapy on Thursdays.â This is a sensational hip-hop tune from an awesome artist and producer out of Chicago. REALXTY I really enjoyed our interview this week. Next, letâs go back to 80âs rock with Soft Cell and the nine-minute version of âTainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go.â This song came off a remastered version their debut album, âNon-Stop Erotic Cabaret.â Both âTainted Love,â and âWhere Did Our Love Goâ are covers of songs from the 60âs with Tainted first recorded by Gloria Jones in 1964, and Where Did Our Love Go was famously recorded by The Supremes also in 1964. Got another one from The Kinks. âCome Dancingââ came up on my 80âs playlist this week. A great song that starts with a 40âs and 50âs style melody that transitions to a classic Kinks melody with an arena rock style of guitar. Finishing up with two that were on the same set from my favorite SiriusXM DJ, Kelly Dollyrot on Little Stevens Underground Garage. The first was âArnold Layneâ the debut single from Pink Floyd, written by a genius, Syd Barrett. Right after that was âItâs All Over Now,â by The Valentinos. This song was famously covered many artists but most famously by The Rolling Stones and Molly Hatchet.
Going to have a livestream interview with Realxty Aug 17 @ 7PM. Can't wait!
First up is Tori Boltwood and her song âCry Baby.â Tori does all the artwork for her song releases and of all the independent artists Iâve met, the artwork she created fits the song and Tori perfectly. Next, Iâll be catching up with Marlon D tomorrow on a quick IG Live session and Iâve been listening to his album Drums from 2015. Everyone, Marlon is the hardest working independent artist Iâve met. Follow Marlon D and listen to his stuff on all the music platform. Marlon tells the truth. Letâs go classic rock next. Rock N Roll by Led Zepplin with the itâs incredible 170 beats per minute. This song was reportedly written in minutes under the original title âItâs Been A Long Timeâ Later scrapped for âRock N Roll.â âWalkinâ the Dogâ a song recorded by the Rolling Stones, Green Day, and so many other artists, and probably most famously by Aerosmith on their debut album âFeaturing, Dream onâ came up this week by the original artist and composer of the song Rufus Thomas who recorded it in 1963 on the Stax label. The version by Rufas and Aerosmith have the famous dog calling whistle. Going country next with Cody Jinks and âMust Be the Whiskey.â Cody Jinks is probably the biggest independent country artist out there. As he says, âheâs always done it his way.â
Starting off the week is âFameâ by this weekâs guest on our show Tori Boltwood, a great singer/songwriter from Fort Worth and even more inspiring person. Thanks Tori for putting great music out there for us music lovers. Second is âTrying To Get To Youâ for Elvis fans. In our interview, Tori mentioned an inspiration for her music is Elvis and his unique sound. This song is on Elvisâ self-titled LP from all the way back in 1956. Next is âKiss Me Deadlyâ by my favorite guitarist in music, Brian Setzer. This song is on Songs From Lonely Album by The Brian Setzer Orchestra. This album with itâs 1940âs big band sound is a hidden gem in music history. âDragginâ The Lineâ by Tommy James. A classic song from the early â70âs with a melody that only Tommy James could create with an iconic lyric âMy dog Sam eats purple flowers, ainât got much but we gotâs ours.â Canât help wondering what is in those purple flowers when I hear this song. Concluding the list this week, âNo One Knows,â by Queens of the Stone Age. This song written by Josh Homme and Mark Lanegan has iconic guitar riffs and is one of those that every time it comes up on my playlist the volume is immediately turned up. Hence the name of the LP is Songs for the Deaf.
First, check out the merch I ordered from Alexander James Rodriguez off his website iamajrodriguez.com. With every purchase Alexander James will make a donation to âNo Kid Hungry.â This young man always amazes me with his music and his energy. So please support him, his music, and his philanthropy. Next, is Act 2 by my last featured guest, Marlon D This album has 20 incredible songs. Like all the guests on the show, I ask you to put your love out there by following @mdlens on Instagram Third, Iâve been listening to âHurricane,â by The Band of Heathens out of Austin, TX. This song is hot! Itâs mix of the blues, folk and country is a must to look up and stream on your favorite platform. This weekend my buddy at Charley MacIntosh had Mulebone in the weekend line-up. Off my playlist this afternoon was their single, âTomorrowâs Blues.â John Ragusa and Hugh Pool are guaranteed to bring the house down up in the U.P. this weekend. Finally, âStop Kicking My Dog Aroundâ by the late Rusty Kershaw. This delta-blues song is a classic solo by Rusty who was famous with this brother Doug Kershaw as Rusty & Doug in the late 1950âs and after a military obligation, again in the 60âs
Marlon D is a Hip-Hop artist from San Diego and he is going to share his journey in the music industry along with going behind the scenes with his new single "Homecoming"
