If you had asked me a month ago if I was looking for a new productivity setup, I would have told you No. Because I was happy with my Todoist-Notion setup but recently, I started getting really frustrated with some things in my Notion setup and decided to give Obsidian a try. I tried it out for more than a week and here’s what I have to say.

How do you choose the perfect hosting for your blog?

Here are a few things to consider when trying to choose the best web hosting for your blog:
1. Your level of expertise: Are you a beginner? If you are, go for cheap and reliable hosting options because you're just starting out and you've probably not started making money with your blogging. If you're not a beginner, you can explore much more expensive options.
2. Price: The best web hosting for your blog will depend on how much you have as well. Even if you have a lot of money, as a beginner, you should go for the best-priced options like Shared Hosting rather than the pricy WordPress hosting or dedicated hosting.
3. The Platform: What platform are you going to use? CMS like WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or your developed site as a developer? This is another factor that determines what web hosting is perfect for you.
4. Customer Support: Choose a platform known for good 24/h customer support and technical support so that if you run into any problems with your hosting, there's someone you can call/message to help you out.
5. User Reviews: What are people saying about the hosting company? Check the customer reviews of whatever hosting company you're considering carefully to see if you can cope with their flaws or not (because there's usually something people don't like about them).
6. Performance and downtime: The first web hosting I used for my first blog was an absolute disaster. Many times, people would tell me that they clicked the link I had sent out on social media but they couldn't get access to my website because it was down. You don't want that experience. You also don't want a slow-loading website.
These are the main factors I'd consider before choosing a web hosting company.
If you're a beginner and you don't have a lot of money, I'd recommend starting your blog with WordPress and Namecheap's Stellar shared hosting.
With that, you can create another 2 websites after you've created your first website at a very cheap price ($1.88/month for your first year and $3.88/mo for subsequent renewals).
If you're interested, you can check out the blog post I wrote breaking down the pros and cons of using Namecheap (https://pursuebetterme.com/blog/namecheap-review). The blog is hosted on Namecheap shared hosting as well so you can test the performance before making a decision.
You should also consider other Namecheap alternatives like Bluehost which I have heard a lot of good things about.

I am a writer and I think it’s time I own that.
It seems silly for me to just place a text here saying, "I am a writer", right?
Well, it's not. For the longest time, my bad experiences in the freelance writing market where many clients were trying to buy my services at the cheapest prices they could get had made me develop a mindset that content writing does not pay much. And that I'd be better off learning tech skills which have been said to be very lucrative.
When I made the decision this month to face the things I really felt passionate about instead of looking for greener pastures in the tech industry, I discovered that in this year alone, I had already invested 35 hours of my life struggling to study various programming languages.
Usually, I had allocated an hour and 30 minutes, twice a week to finish certain parts of the programming language courses I wanted to learn but it wasn't working out well because I was always looking for ways to avoid studying.
I learned a lot when studying Html, CSS, and even Javascript but I have nothing other than an Html page on Codepen to show for the 35 hours I spent trying to study it.
I was even unable to complete the projects required to get my HTML and CSS certification at Free Code Camp even after I'd finished all the courses there.
This month, I made the decision to face the one thing that I could spend hours doing without getting tired and become so good at it that no one dares to lower the price of my very valuable service: writing content that engages.
I'm not there yet but I'm ready to face whatever setbacks I have to face to get to where I want to be.

What is the best between Facebook Boost and Facebook AD?

Choosing to use Facebook's boost option or creating a Facebook ad in Ads Manager depends on one thing: your business goals and ad objective.

Why do you want to advertise? What kind of results do you want from your ads?

If you want more people to see the particular Facebook post you want to boost, then you can use the boost feature.

Don't use the boost option, if you want conversions. You're very unlikely to get a good return on ad spend (ROAS).

In fact, I wouldn't advise you to use the boost option if you're trying to promote your page either.

The truth is if you want to get better results for your ad spend, you would be better off creating an ad in Ads Manager.

Here are a few reasons why:

You'll get better results that way, and you can get more detailed measurements of your results and the metrics relevant to your ad objective.
You'll be able to target your target customers/audience, that is, the group of people most likely to respond to your ad in one way or the other.
And you pay for the results you want with ads created with Facebook Ads Manager, that is, you can decide if you want to pay for clicks, engagement, visits to your website, conversions (actual purchases), and traffic to your brick and mortar store (store traffic).

I answered this question on Quora:

What are the best ways to promote your brands?
Here are 9 ways to promote your brand (how people perceive your business and build some brand awareness):

1. Organic Social Media Marketing: Be active on the social media platforms where your target audience is active. Don't just post random stuff there, provide value, connect and engage with them.

2. Paid Social Media Marketing: If you're already active on Social media (organically), you can use paid social media marketing to increase your brand's reach and impressions with campaign objectives like brand awareness (reach/impressions) and engagements (likes, comments, shares, followers, etc).

3. Content Marketing with a Blog and Search Engine Optimization: Give value to your customers/potential customers and help them along their customer journey with your content so that they can eventually make a purchase. (This may be slow to give you returns but it can provide you with long-term returns in terms of Brand Awareness, Authority, and Sales).

4. Influencer Marketing: For brand awareness, I would suggest you reach out to influencers in your niche who can try the products or services that your brand provides so they can share their experience with their followers. This won't just boost brand awareness but will most likely, increase sales.

5. Advertise with Podcasts that work in niches related to your products or services. I don't have in-depth knowledge about Podcast marketing so you'll need to do your research on this one to see how it works but as a podcast listener, I have heard of and have good impressions of brands that advertise on various podcasts that I love to listen to.

6. Display Advertising with ad networks like Google Display Ads, Adsterra, and Ezoic. These ads will be placed in front of your customers as they use Websites/Apps they usually like to use, visit and interact with as long as you do your targeting well. I can’t count how many mobile games or apps I have downloaded or added to my wishlist because of an ad I saw on another mobile game or app.

7. Listen to what people are saying about your brand on External review sites like Trust Pilot, SiteJabber, etc., and offer incentives to your customers to leave reviews about their experience with your brand on these sites.

8. Use a consistent brand tone and messaging to communicate online. Regardless of who manages what online platform, make sure that your tone and messaging tell the same story. You should also seriously consider creating a social media policy.

9. Use storytelling to shape the perception people have of your brand.

Hope that helps.

Whenever you find yourself giving in to your short-term goals whether they're financial or regular life goals, remember that your long-term goals are to enable you to achieve your most cherished wishes so you need to defend them from your short-term goals.
I actually created this quote from a quote from the richest man in Babylon which was explaining the importance of budgeting your finances. Here's the original quote:
"It is to enable thee to realize thy most cherished desires by defending them from thy casual wishes."
Although the original quote was speaking on the importance of financial budgeting, I feel that it is also a quote that enlightens us on the importance of our long-term goals which is why I included it in my new article on Financial goals. Check it out here:

As someone who is very imperfect but has always wanted to present herself to others as perfect, it took me a very long time to understand the importance of starting and learning as I go.
After my first success where I successfully went from having a very stressful job in Uni to not needing a job after Uni and working from home as a freelance writer and business owner, I had issues with the fear of starting and then failing. I started many things but in my search for perfection, I never really started at the right time when the passion was burning hot. Another thing is I was never intentional.
So by the time I eventually started, the results weren't perfect because I had started with many doubts and used statements like, 'I can't kill myself' when I saw poor results before quickly QUITTING to mask my fear of failure.
By starting and doing, you get results that tell you if you're going the right way or not. YOU LEARN HOW TO DO BETTER BY STARTING.
Planning is good, yes, but too much planning can also cripple your creativity and success.
This year, I am really taking a lot of risks and getting started with many things like a new Youtube channel, nurturing my blog with consistent content, and trying to build a personal brand by putting some attention on my Social Media Marketing.
I want you to also get rid of the fear of starting which is backed by the fear of failing.
Yes, you might fail, but yes, you might also succeed? So START today.
