The purpose of art is to contextualize the human condition.

We know that art has the unique ability to serve as a mirror to society, reflecting its values, struggles, and triumphs.

Whether to start a dialogue, ‘pretty’ or ‘ugly’. Or to encourage people to think outside of the lines. To challenge the program.

GHETTOEXPRESSIONISM.

We know throughout time there has been many periods of expressionism in art. Like the impressionist or the surrealism period. Being from the Southside of Chicago, I know first hand that those of us from the urban communities of America, the way that we carry ourselves goes far beyond what’s at the surface. From the way we talk our talk, to the way we navigate through our environments. It’s an art form. It’s a form of expressionism.

The power of art lies in its capacity to challenge perceptions, provoke thought, and inspire meaningful dialogue, ultimately enriching our collective understanding of the human experience.
