Welcome To My Studio!
YOOO! Hey everyone, welcome to my home studio!
My name is Pete and I am a Professional Sound Engineer and Percussion Educator in beautiful and sunny California! I have been blessed to work with artists like Joe Rogan, Tom Segura, Tiffany Haddish, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Alien Ant Farm, POD, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Hawthorne Heights, Chris D’Elia, and others. Surreal Moments in my career for sure!!!
Since the world has been taken by storm with COVID, I have become a full time stay-at-home Dad. Local businesses have been forced to furlough, layoff, close doors, and literally have no answers in sight. I have no idea when the entertainment industry will be able to get back to work. I am in this situation with millions of others around the world. The artists, creators, have been affected greatly, but so have people like me who are on the technical production staff. My small freelance business had literally froze in place mid February and like millions of others, I still have no answers in sight.
A love of playing games, figuring out technically challenging issues with, and simply enjoying the company of others!
This is where the idea of “The Studio Gamer” came from... The world is transitioning to online business and social interaction. This is something that is now here to stay, there is no question. Using my experience in professional entertainment, I decided to check out what I would have to do to live-stream my gaming. I knew absolutely nothing about streaming, software, and the platforms available to stream on. But I do know something about productions value, and sound/audio - and my studio equipment has been more than adequate to get the best possible sounding streams! I custom built my studio computer almost 10 years ago... of course you want to know the setup and specs right? My next build was coming up in the next year but has obviously been set back due to the devastating virus that’s crippled the world economy. Here’s a few basics...
Intel i5-4400 (3.10GHz)
32 GB RAM
GTX 1080TI 11GB video card (recently upgraded to this)
Presonus StudioLive 32 Mixing Console/Interface
Shure SM7B Studio Broadcast Quality Microphone (this is just the one on camera lol)
Yamaha HS8 Professional Studio Monitors
47” 1080HD TV @60fps
StreamElements & OBS stream software
games, audio software, sound libraries, and of course the family budget in Excel...
Why I’m deciding to stream...
I simply wanted to share my fun times playing games and finding ways to interact with other adults - and don’t get me wrong, I love being home with my kids and I praise my wife everyday for her hard work to continue to provide for our family working 50+ hours a week and no vacations because. But obviously like many others, things have been stressful. My wife is supporting my decision to embark on this journey simply because she knows I need an outlet of some sort. Being at home full time with our 6 and 2 year old boys is a major contribution to the family - if I was working we’d be forking out money for daycare for sure! And hey if I can make a few bucks too, well then hey why not?
Much Love and GG’s to all! Stay Safe and keep your masks handy!
