WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM TUESDAY TO 1 PM EST WEDNESDAY
(COUNTIES SHADED IN PURPLE)

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an
inch.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida, Madison, Southern Oneida, Chenango, Otsego and Delaware counties.

* WHEN...From 6 PM Tuesday to 1 PM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of snow moves into the area Tuesday evening before likely mixing with some rain, freezing rain and sleet late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to mid-30s through the event. The higher end snow and ice totals will be found across the higher elevations.

* WHERE...Yates, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Cortland, Tioga and Broome counties.

* WHEN...From 5 PM Tuesday to 11 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of snow moves into the area Tuesday evening before likely changing over to a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and perhaps some lingering snow late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to mid-30s through the event. The higher end snow and ice totals will be found across the higher elevations.

FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 8 AM EDT SATURDAY (Counties Shaded In Blue)

* WHAT...Temperatures between 33-37 degrees will result in frost formation.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida, Otsego, Delaware and Sullivan counties.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to 8 AM EDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Coldest temperatures are expected in the rural, sheltered valley locations.

A QUICK BURST OF SNOW WILL AFFECT WESTERN BROOME CORTLAND TIOGA EASTERN TOMPKINS NORTHWESTERN SUSQUEHANNA AND NORTHEASTERN BRADFORD COUNTIES AT 821 PM EDT, A BATCH OF BRIEF YET HEAVY SNOW WAS LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM PREBLE TO ITHACA TO NEAR LITCHFIELD. MOVEMENT WAS SOUTHEAST AT 25 MPH, TOWARDS THE INTERSTATE 81 CORRIDOR. WITH LOSS OF DAYLIGHT, ROADS THAT WERE PREVIOUSLY WET MAY NOW GET A QUICK COATING OF SLUSH OR SNOW, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND ON EXPOSED SURFACES LIKE BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. VISIBILITY MAY ALSO RAPIDLY DROP TO UNDER A HALF MILE DURING THIS BATCH OF SNOW. LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE... VESTAL, CORTLAND, JOHNSON CITY, ENDICOTT, BARTON, SAYRE, MAINE, WAVERLY, OWEGO AND ATHENS. CONDITIONS CAN DETERIORATE RAPIDLY IN WINTER WEATHER SITUATIONS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW OR ICE COVERED ROADS. SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME WHEN TRAVELING.

A narrow line containing moderate to heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts is currently entering the southern tier from west to east. This line of storms will continue to march to the east over the next few hours. Main threat will be ha brief period of moderate to heavy rainfall along with isolated damaging wind gusts.
