If you’re in the Atlanta area next Saturday afternoon, come through! You’ll get to hear from my book, ponder topics of mental illness and survivorship, and purchase signed copies of my debut collection 🫶🏾

Late to post this but this was from the 1st Open Mic held at ! Had a great time getting to perform “Can You See?” for the crowd, plus met a lot of amazing poets and performers from the community. Sold a couple books, got a couple books—overall a great experience! 🫶🏾

Coming to the stage at Thursday Night Open Mic with , it’s ✨yours truly✨ performing one of the pieces from my book called Release (page 78 😉) Huge shoutout to all the other incredible poets and performers tonight, I really felt like I came home ☺️
Happy Pub Day to me!!! 💃🏾 Today is the official release of The Rebirth of a Phoenix! I picked this day for release because it is also officially Spring, being that today is The Spring Equinox! And what a beautiful day it is, at least here in Georgia. This collection of poetry is representative of coming into my own again after trauma and DV, of using my voice again to express all parts of me. So today is special for so many reasons, and I’m glad to be sharing it with all of you ☺️

This poetry except is from one of the more difficult sections of poems in my collection. From a poem that describes verbal abuse without even realizing that's what was happening. This is one of my advance warnings that 🚨some of this poetry is not easy to read🚨, especially if you have ever been in a situation like I was. However, I do think it's important to shed light on the issues of domestic/relationship violence and hopefully by sharing we can help to end the stigma so that nobody has to feel they are going through this alone. If you consider yourself to be a survivor, this collection might resonate with you 💜

This first snippet is a manifestation of some of the ways I tried to speak life into myself towards the beginning of my time in college. This is the part of the journey where the main character hasn't even figured out she's the main character yet. If you've ever felt that you needed to assure and validate yourself to move forward in your life, this collection might resonate with you 🌟

My performance of “Rebirth of a Phoenix” from my collection! 🤗 This is the poem that really wraps up and describes my journey that I described throughout the pages of this book. When I wrote this poem, I realized that all the other poems would tell it’s story, and thus my collection was formed 🙌🏾 I apologize in advance for no subtitles, I couldn’t get them onto this video
