"In Spite Of" is the debut album from Santa Cruz-based Hotlung. It's an album of melodic post-hardcore rock with some great riffs. Hard to pick a favourite track on this one, but it's likely a toss-up between "Never Home" and "Dead End".

This album came out 11 months ago but if you like groups like OMD or Depeche Mode, check out Seattle-based Seaside Tryst. "Different Places" is the album and it locks into that synth-wave groove from start to finish. Some of the best tracks are on the back half of the album. Worth the full listen.
