Great project with a beautiful message.

You know when you’ve been through s**t in the past and it makes you put up your guard in relationships moving forward? Yeah.

Over time, we develop defense mechanisms that try and protect ourselves from real or perceived pain. We cope with fear of potential hurt or disappointment in different ways, one of which often includes: trying not to think about it. Which may or may not lead to…

- The desire to stay in bed all day
- The tendency to self-medicate
- Withdrawal from friends/family
- Disassociation
- Hurting others before they can hurt you

Bottom line: we do s**t. It’s crazy and it can be messy. But also makes sense. It’s what makes us perfectly imperfectly human.

Be kind to yourself.

It’s not always easy to get out of your own way. I know you’re trying. I am too.
