📍Othello Tunnels

If you’re looking for a fun, short hike with littles then this trail is for you! It’s been in our list for a while, and it’s quite a drive from Vancouver but only a little farther from Cultus Lake if you’re already there.

Lots of parking, terrain was mostly flat and wagon/jogging stroller friendly. Don’t forget to bring flash lights for the little ones so they can explore the tunnel!

With back to school in full gear, did you know that 80% of a child’s learning is based on vision?

And if vision problems are left untreated, a kid’s potential may be lagging behind in learning. Many serious eye conditions don’t have obvious symptoms, and vision screenings offered by teachers and family doctors are very limited in evaluating a child’s overall eye health. A thorough eye exam by an eye doctor is the only way to know for sure.

When a child is struggling to see clearly at a distance, it is more difficult for them to concentrate in class and have a more fulfilling experience at play. This child may have myopia or nearsightedness. Without treatment, kids may experience vision problems that could have a long-term impact.

Off to spend some quality time with grandparents ✈️

You think flying often makes it easier, but really it’s all like a lottery. As much as I prepare, there’s always that chance of a tantrum and yesterday was one of those. Jordan hit, bit, scratched, and kicked with all his might all because he didn’t feel like giving up his tray table and putting on his seatbelt during takeoff. Then as I held him down so we wouldn’t get escorted out of the plane, he screamed “you’re hurting me” and “you’re not listening to me”. I guess we’re not quite ready for those long haul flights yet 😰

Moral of the story, be prepared but still expect the worst. And during those times when all hell is breaking loose, the one thing you should care the least about is what other people think. It too will pass, and everyone moves on 🫠

Rosie is in full-time camp and her schedule is busier than it has ever been with field trips twice a week! While she’s all excited, mama’s been checking her airtag every little break I get from work 🤭

Finally, two kids on the same class time 🙌🏻

Jordan’s finally old enough for some independent classes! They’re obviously on different levels but at least I found the same class time for both kids, making life a little easier for this mama. Hopefully we can also find some skating classes with the same class time on the fall. And if you guys recommend any other classes that can do the same I would love to know!

On that note, also realizing my baby is now a big boy 🥺

Have you been to the fairy garden trail? 🧚

We had such a gorgeous long weekend, it was perfect for our first trail of the season! The kids had so much fun exploring the forest, finding fairy houses, climbing the tree house, and playing in the playground. Then we got some well deserved ice cream and explored the pier. Definitely recommend for a fun, free activity great for kids of any age!

One of my most favorite things to do in metro Vancouver during summer, is going to the beach 🌊

Not to swim, but to explore life and nature! On our first day back after the cold season, Jordan and the beach were inseperable! He giggled while we collected sea shells, found so much starfish big and small, and even watched crabs and sea gulls in their natural habitat. Mama loved snorkelling in tropical waters, swimming with sea turtles, swimming with whale sharks in Philippines, and kayaking to a sandbar through a sea lion habitat in Hawaii. I cannot wait to share more of these adventures to these littles 🌊

Pixar Place Hotel 🎈

Was it a splurge? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely!

1. Early entry - Disneyland Resort guests are allowed into the parks 30min before it opens to the public, and because of this we were able to finish most of the rides on our list before 10am!
2. Easy access - no shuttles needed, just an 8min walk. This allowed us to head back to our hotel for Jordan’s nap and come back to the parks ready to power through the rest of the day 💪🏻
3. Exclusive Entrance into DCA - also with its exclusive security!
4. Park Views - we were able to watch The World of Color right from our bed with its corresponding music played on the hotel TV 🌈
5. Hotel Events - from rooftop games, movie nights, fireworks viewing, Pixar shorts playing in the hotel lobby TV, to meet-and-greet with Bingo, there was so much going on every day that we wish we had more time!

Like all things Disney, our stay was absolutely magical and we cannot wait for our next Disney Resort experience ✨

Around the same time last year all this guy was capable of was drink, sleep, pee, poop. Now he runs, babbles, sleeps by himself, eats by himself, and even knows how to make tantrums! These littles seriously grow up way too fast 🥺 @bbluv ‘s Yümi plate and Küp sippy cup has helped Jordan be an independent eater! I love the Yümi plate’s suction base and divided sections - they remind me to make sure Jordan has a balanced meal and the sections are also perfectly portioned. The Küp is spill-proof and transitions from spout to drinking from a straw and then directly from the cup.
