It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks of filming ‘The Last Song of the Nightingale’ for our camera crew!
From exploring the effects of birds on our mental health with Joe Harkness, to investigating the impacts of development at Lodge Hill, the UK's most important home for nightingales, and the threats to Minsmere from a new nuclear power station.
From chatting about nightingales in literature with the brilliant Richard Mabey, delving into the 12th century poem ‘The Owl and the nightingale’ with Dr Michael Warren, to ringing nightingales with Mike Drew and visiting the nightingale haven at Paxton Pitts with Jim Stevenson & Trevor Gunton.
And of course the most high profile of our shoots was our event in Berkeley Square, where renowned street artist ATM painted a nightingale on a section of tailplane from a WW2 bomber. We were delighted that The Guardian decided to run a piece on the story, which you can read here:

Next spring, when the documentary debuts, we will be auctioning this stunning piece of art but in the meantime you can get your hands on a limited edition Luke Massey photograph of ‘The Nightingale & The Bomber’ here:

Very best wishes,
