Most goods are primarily delivered via roads and railroads on land, shipping lanes on the sea, and airline networks in the air. Certain types of goods may be delivered via specialized networks, such as pipelines for liquid goods, power grids for electrical power and computer networks such as the Internet or broadcast networks for electronic information.

Types of RORO

1. PCC/ PCTC
PCC = Pure Car Carriers
PCTC = Pure Car and Truck Carrier

PCC transports only cars while PCTC transports both cars and trucks.
PCC has the ramp ways on the side of the ship allowing automobiles to roll on and off the ship. In PCTC, decks can be raised and lowered to allow accommodation of buses, trucks and other large vehicles.

2. ConRo
ConRo = Container + RoRo
The ConRo vessel is a hybrid between a ro-ro and a container ship.
Vehicles are stored below the deck and containerized freight (Containers) are stacked (arranged) on the top of the deck.

3. RoPax
RoPax = RoRo + Passenger Accommodation (roll on/roll off passenger)
These vessels are commonly called as ferries that transport vehicles and passengers across river docks.

What is RORO?

"RoRo" stands for "Roll-on/Roll-off."
A RoRo vessel is a specialized ship designed for the transportation of automobiles, trucks, semi-trailer trucks, trailers, and railroad cars, that are driven on and off the ship on their own wheels or using a platform vehicle, such as a self-propelled modular transporter (called tug master).
The vehicles are "rolled on" when they are loaded onto the ship and "rolled off" when they are unloaded at the destination port. RORO vessels have built-in ramps that allow the cargo to be efficiently rolled on and off the vessel when in port.

What is OOG?
OOG refers to Out of gauge cargo

Explain : Out of gauge cargo (OOG) describes any cargo that cannot be loaded into six-sided shipping containers due to its size. All cargo that exceeds the dimensions of a 20 or 40 foot container is considered out of gauge cargo.

OOG cargo can be large automobiles such as luxury buses, car trailers, special works of art or mining equipment. Other examples of OOG cargo are construction machinery, aircraft parts, wind turbines and machinery for power generation.
