My dad has bees. Today I went to his house and he showed me all of the honey he had gotten from the hives. He took the lid off of a 5 gallon bucket full of honey and on top of the honey there were 3 little bees, struggling. They were covered in sticky honey and drowning. I asked him if we could help them and he said he was sure they wouldn't survive. Casualties of honey collection I suppose.
I asked him again if we could at least get them out and kill them quickly, after all he was the one who taught me to put a suffering animal (or bug) out of its misery. He finally conceded and scooped the bees out of the bucket. He put them in an empty Chobani yogurt container and put the plastic container outside.
Because he had disrupted the hive with the earlier honey collection, there were bees flying all over outside.
We put the 3 little bees in the container on a bench and left them to their fate. My dad called me out a little while later to show me what was happening. These three little bees were surrounded by all of their sisters (all of the bees are females) and they were cleaning the sticky nearly dead bees, helping them to get all of the honey off of their bodies. We came back a short time later and there was only one little bee left in the container. She was still being tended to by her sisters.
When it was time for me to leave we checked one last time and all three of the bees had been cleaned off enough to fly away and the container was empty.
Those three little bees lived because they were surrounded by family and friends who would not give up on them, family and friends who refused to let them drown in their own stickiness and resolved to help until the last little bee could be set free.
Bee Sisters. Bee Peers. Bee Teammates.
We could all learn a thing or two from these bees.

Today we did this lady's yard. She was telling us how the man next door was charging her to cut her yard and she could not afford it because she is on a fix income and just came out the hospital. She also said how he harasses her for the payment. But she need not worry no more because Raising Men Lawn Care Service will be doing her lawn for FREE just like how we do the rest of the lawns and will get her lawn done every two weeks. She can use the money on things that she really needs like medication . We are making a difference ! We mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, single parents and veterans ( that’s all we do). SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo-2 blasts off Saturday 5/30!!!!!

A dear family friend of ours is an Astronaut, Joseph Acaba. To date, he’s logged a total of 306 days in space on 3 separate missions. My family and I were blessed to be invited to watch his first launch back in 2009 from the family viewing launch area at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. It was an ethereal experience and one that I will never forget! Joe flew aboard STS-119 on the Space Shuttle Discovery to the International Space Station to deliver the final pair of power-generating solar array wings and a truss element. During the mission, he conducted two spacewalks. In 2012, he flew aboard a Soyuz spacecraft to the space station where he worked as Flight Engineer for the Expedition 31/32. During that mission, the first commercial resupply spacecraft, SpaceX Dragon, arrived at the station! How cool! Joe served as Director of Operations Russia in Star City supporting crew training in Soyuz and Russian Segment systems. He most recently served as Flight Engineer on the International Space Station for Expedition 53/54! So let’s just say, I am a “smidge” of a Space Geek because of following his journey so closely...and I am very proud of that title now haha! This post isn’t political or meant to be negative in any way! It’s simply to share my excitement for the planned SpaceX and NASA launch!!!! Prayers being sent to all of the crews and those astronauts!!! 🙏🏻🚀🚀🚀

NASA and SpaceX are scheduled for a historic launch to send two astronauts into space for the first time in nearly a decade!!! The mission, called Demo-2, will launch two NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley into orbit on a Crew Dragon spacecraft atop a Falcon 9 rocket. Liftoff is set for Saturday 5/30 at 3:22pm EST from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
