When it comes to winter, one thing is certain, the days are shorter, it's much colder, and that tends to be when our mindset takes a deep dive.
One of our favorite things to do to combat the winter blues is cozy reads!
In this episode, we give you some of our tips on how planning ahead now will set you up for a fun filled cozy read winter.
It's like Christmas in July...for yourself!
Fun Fact: Buying your books in July saves the bank account around the holidays.
Recognize: Recognize your guilty pleasures and read what you like.
Accept: Accept your limitations and seek alternative options.
Support: Support your friends and start a book club.
Challenge: Grab the Book Tracker Freebie at unbrokenandenough.com and begin your list now!
Our friends who are in a caregiver role often put the needs of the person they are caring for above themselves. It's hard for them to be present in your life, when they are treading water in theirs.
In this episode, Jamie and I will go over some out of the box ways that you can support your friends in their caregiver roles, and hopefully identify when they may be in crisis and really need your support.
We also want to acknowledge all of our friends currently in the caregiver role, we hear you, we see you, we love you, and we support you always.
Fun Fact: There are many ways to support your friend when they are a caregiver for a loved one.
Recognize: Social queues to determine if your friend is in crisis and may need more support.
Accept: Accept that what you want to do to help may not be what is actually needed.
Support: Your friend often with a simple check-in and “hi, how are you?”
Homework: Reach out to a friend who is currently a caregiver. Start by just telling her you are thinking of her and asking if there is anything you can do to help.

One thing we often forget to do is spend time in nature. When it comes to self-care, Jamie and I both agree that nature has some amazing benefits that we often forget to tap into.
We believe that in order to be the best possible friend to someone else, you must first be the best possible friend to yourself, so that includes self-care.
Fun Fact: Spending time in nature can be soothing. If you can disconnect from internet devices and things like that, you get a deeper benefit.
Recognize: When you need to give yourself an outdoor time out. If your day is going extremely stressful, if you feel the stress rising within your body, and you just feel like you're going to scream, like you need to just take a break, go outside, give yourself 15 minutes of uninterrupted time, don't take your phone with you just stand there and breathe, breathe in, breathe out, be a human, breathe in, breathe out. That's all you got to do. Don't do anything else.
Accept: Accept your environment and find nature near you. Parks are great. Greenhouses, where they sell plants can even be kind of therapeutic because you get to touch the leaves. Plants inside your home, it just gives you that connection to the earth even though it's inside your home.
Support: Support your inner peace by scheduling time outdoors regularly.
Challenge: Get in nature this week alone and by yourself distraction free...and hug a tree (cause Jamie said to)

Parties - they can be fun...or they can be anxiety inducing. Which side of that coin you are on depends on the details surrounding the party.
In this (lengthy) episode, we are going to have some heart to heart talks such as:
🥳 Attending parties we are invited to
🎉 Family Gatherings
🎉 Co-Worker Party
🎉 Bestie Brunch
🎉 Party with Friends
🥳 How to politely decline if you can't attend (and not feel like a total jerk for saying no)
🥳 Why you should always invite your friend going through hardship instead of omitting them off the guest list
🥳 What you should take to the party (and when you should ask the host(ess) for permission)
🥳 What topics we should avoid and overall general guest etiquette
It's easy to have hurt feelings when it comes to party fouls, so we want to help you learn a few tricks we've picked up along the way. These are things we've personally faced and we recognize not everyone falls into these categories, in other words, you do you, boo!
Fun Fact: You can still have a good time at a party even if you are an introvert.
Recognize: Your headspace - can you attend the party and bring positivity even if you’re having a bad day?
Accept: Not all gatherings are large enough to invite everyone, and don’t use it as an excuse to not attend future events hosted by that person.
Support: It is socially acceptable to bring the host/hostess a small gift of gratitude.
