Eswatini Media Pro || SWALIMO, Manzini District Chairperson responds to claims that he's a member of PUDEMO
02 May 2022
MANZINI- Statement by B Sihlongonyane
'A picture of myself wearing a PUDEMO t-shirt is circulating in social circles giving the impression that I am a PUDEMO member. Yes the picture was taken yesterday in sober senses to prove that despite the division in the progressives camp, SWALIMO remains committed to unity. Here we had exhanged t-shirts with crucial PUDEMO members to justify the point of unity just like it happens in football games. In the aforementioned picture, the PUDEMO members who were wearing SWALIMO t-shirts were deliberately cropped out for whatever agenda they want to portray. I personally have no problem with any party despite being provoked time and again. I remain committed to working with any formation that advocates for political change in the country be it PUDEMO, CPS, EFFSWA etc.
I want to put it tacitly clear that I am a SWALIMO member and a leader of the Manzini District. I have no intentions whatsoever to join PUDEMO. I sincerely apologize to the President of SWALIMO, the leadership in all structures, SWALIMO members and the entire mass democratic camp for the perception that was potrayed by the picture'.

Manzini- SWALIMO President's house in Manzini, Makholweni was almost burnt in the early hours of today.
The former Siphofaneni MP Mduduzi Magawgawu Simelane posted on his official page about the attempt to petrol bomb his house and thanked the citizens for their quick response.
Eswatini is an absolute monarchy where the King has Judicial, Executive and legislative powers. The political unrest started in June last year where thousands of citizens marched to Matsapha Police Station to demand justice for the late Thabani Nkomonye who was allegedly killed by Royal Eswatini Police.
Simelane and the two arrested legislators took it to parliament to demand democratic reforms in Swaziland and urged Swazis to petition their constituencies which was stopped by Mswati's regime.

Manzini: On 16 June 1976 between 3000 and 10 000 students mobilized by the South African Students Movement's Action Committee supported by the BCM marched peacefully to demonstrate and protest against the government’s directive. The march was meant to culminate at a rally in Orlando Stadium.
The aftermath of the events of June 16 1976 had dire consequences for the Apartheid government. Images of the police firing on peacefully demonstrating students led an international revulsion against South Africa as its brutality was exposed. Meanwhile, the weakened and exiled liberation movements received new recruits fleeing political persecution at home giving impetus to the struggle against Apartheid.
The arrest of the Students President Colani Maseko is a direct attack to the youth of Swaziland.
