Each year, Delta partners with the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) to fly young Black students on a chartered “Dream Flight”, a hands-on introduction to aviation and aerospace careers. This year’s crew of 100 teens boarded a Boeing 757 from Atlanta and visited NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, accompanied by an all-Black crew and mentors who visibly reflect the future these students are invited to claim.
The invitation goes beyond a single flight. It’s a full experience: from walking among rockets and simulators, to hearing stories of pilots and engineers who once looked like them, to real mentorship and pathways into aviation. Over the program’s 25 editions, more than 4,000 young people have taken part and many are now heading into flights, aerospace engineering and STEM careers.
This is more than inspiration, it’s representation and access in action. When students see themselves in the cockpit, in the engine room, in the pilot’s uniform, the dream isn’t just “possible,” it becomes probable.
