My neighbours called the cops on me for playing trumpet so I'm building a soundproof music studio inside a shipping container.

Today I'm unboxing a short web series I made documenting my latest studio build showing exactly how I did it all.

I've run into so many people who tell me they considered building one of these. Everyone had the same problem of not having somewhere they could go to create or practice their craft. That would hold them back from making progress. Lots of drummers.

To new beginnings! Inside this banged up 20f shipping container i'm building a soundproof music studio. So much respect to the team at Transmech Crane Truck Services for delivering in a tough spot. The power lines were a bit spicy but we got there! 🏁

Plaster Time. Trevor is cutting the holes to poke wiring through making the holes as small as possible. I ended up with Pink Soundbreak insulation. It's amazing how much it deadens the space with insulation. ⁠⠀

Installing the hardwood doorframe. We had leftover yellowtonge so we used it as the exterior wall. We had to pack the hardwood out from the stud wall so it was exactly right size for the door.

I'm getting mixed information about insulation bats. Some people say it doesn't matter, you just need something cheap to fill the cavity, others say get as dense material as possible. What's the deal?⁠
