Last Days Garage celebrates the last days of the glorious internal combustion engine and the equally wonderful manual transmission.

It's a channel dedicated to all things automotive at the whim of it's eclectic creator. The days of the internal combustion engine (ICE) are drawing to a close. With the demise of ICE we lose the wonderful metal symphony of interconnected science and mechanics to the silence and remoteness of the electric motor. Worse still, we lose the manual transmission. I like the technology of the electric ca

r and will probably build one myself, but in the mean time allow me to get all the gasoline-fueled fantasies out of my system.

The beloved and beleaguered daily driver is approaching 160,000 miles, so I started looking around at a replacement at the lowest end of the market. I decided to see what one of those internet car buying services was all about. The only criteria that was non-negotiable was a manual transmission. So I limited my search to only cars available with a stick shift. Every offer that came back was for a car with an automatic. Anyone had this experience? looks like the Fiesta will be around at least to 200K miles.

Ugly or just ahead of its time. My Aztek in a parking lot of current Minivans, Crossovers, and sedans. The only thing that stands out is the color. The second photo takes care of that.
