Yep, I used to think walking was lame exercise! I was a cardio queen. Hour-long spinning classes, treadmill, and the elliptical were my go-tos.
This worked great for me in my 20s, 30s, and even into my 40s, combined with not eating enough.🥺 I was in pretty good shape (maybe not that healthy) back then, but the fat started creeping in.
Menopause hit, and oh boy. The crazy cardio and calorie deprivation were no longer working.

At the age of 59, I wasn't feeling or looking my best. Menopause hit me pretty hard. First step was to start stabilizing my blood sugar by eating breakfast.
What do you know? Lots of great things happened. Not only did I have more energy throughout the day, but I had fewer cravings, lost fat, and was able to hit my protein goals.
That first meal of the day is so important! Try to get at least 30g of protein at every meal. This is my PSA for the day.

👍Get at least 30g of protein at every meal, and yes, eat breakfast.
👍We need carbs for fuel!
👍Eating more than 1300 calories/day will actually fire up your metabolism.
👍If you can go for days with those little 5lb. weights, it's time to progress to more challenging weight. Muscle is so important in midlife and beyond.
👍The days of crazy cardio are in the past. Mix it up with weight training, a couple of days of short HIIT workouts, and walking.
