Dating back to the original launch in late 2010, it is amazing to notice the progress Instagram has made in its appeal to its users.
Tracking usage statistics back to 2017 saw the average user spend around 25 minutes per day on the platform. With fewer features, users weren’t as enticed to stay inside the application for very long.
As Instagram began to gather more accurate data and find new features to incorporate within the app, growth continued upward.
Today the average user spends over 53 minutes per day on the app.
The launch of features like live video, IGTV, Reels, group messaging, and much more has resulted in creating a central application where all users go to chat and consume content. It has become much more than just a place to post a few photos.
As a business, you can tap into these engagement levels by posting interactive content for your followers. When they enter Instagram, they are looking for things to keep them there. This includes stories, videos, polls, and other content they can enjoy.
