Stanley, Idaho boondocking hits a little different. The area is remote and much quieter than the popular spots in Utah and Colorado. We stayed on this road about 10 minutes west of town and had the whole meadow to ourselves. In the evening, we could only hear the rustling of the wind and a distant howl of a coyote. Nature at its purest.

Sometimes some of the core memories, some of the nicest campsites are where you expect them least. This was a lovely, warm, quiet evening not far from Lake Havasu on the Arizona/California border. made the vibe complete 🥰

Greetings humans 🤖 over here. I’m a little tired after driving 15 thousand miles since April. From the southwest, to the west coast, to the sounds of British Columbia, to Colorado and now Maine. I can’t wait to get my tires rotated and get shiny new front shocks installed! I also heard my hoomans might be getting a heater, so no more sitting around for months in the cold and snowy driveway.

There’s nothing like parking your rig for the night amidst the pine trees with mountains in the distance under a dramatic sunset like this. This is life, folks. Not your bowl of popcorn and TV screen every night. This is REAL.

Yesterday evening I cleaned up the van, emptied the porta potti, grey water tank, filled up our water, and secured everything for the descent down the hill. Just enjoying a few moments of evening sunlight before starting the journey east. 🤟🏻

Can you spot ? This is one of our favorite free campsites! Located in Summit County just a mile away from the Loveland Pass summit, aside from engine brake noise, this is one of the coolest spots in the area! Sadly, lots of trash - hoping this spot remains open.

WHAT A SUMMER. Damn. Not even home yet, and we’re at
- over 15k miles
- 18 states
- 4 months on the road
- 4 seasons
We skied the Rockies and the Sierras, hiked in the desert, ate delicious food, exploded the alpine lakes, visited the pacific coast, learned how to fly fish, found new hip outdoorsy towns we love, and met up with friends. Yes, I know…vanlife is often hard. It’s messy. It’s stressful. It’s enduring. But all of these experiences = worth it.

It’s been very rainy in Colorado, we were supposed to hike Grays-Torreys today, but unfortunately had to cancel. Instead we spent the morning relaxing, fishing, and cleaning the van a bit. What’s your weekend like?

Alma/Fairplay are the two raddest mountain towns in Colorado. I mean we love Summit, Steamboat, Leadville, all for different reasons, but if you want zero pretentiousness, Alma & Fairplay are it.
Unfortunately there’s a LOT of development happening, and its possible that this small town character might disappear like it has in so many tourist areas of Colorado. But for now, enjoy the low key vibes.
Also, check out if you’re passing through. Their fried chicken sandwiches are bomb.

Fall is slowly but surely creeping into the high alpine. Summit is located around 10,000-11,000 feet and it’s getting cold, higher summits are getting some snow showers, and the aspen leaves are definitely teasing us. Crazy to think that when we arrived here in April, it was still peak ski season. Full circle. ✨

San Luis in the bag! We were going to do Handies, until we realized our vans wouldn’t make it. Long, 18 mile hike today, and we are exhausted, but the view was impeccable!
