I apologize for the delay in posting this, especially after how long TAKknife.com and I worked together to get this done. But I would like to make up for it with good news.

A lot of people have been asking for trainers for the C.U.T. 4.0, and they are now available from TAK Knife (TAKKnife.com). It is available in Compressor and BasiX models.

The Compressor version is 1 inch thick and constructed of high-density rubber foam. A tip shock absorber flexes on a jab or slice. Similarly, the ring features a shock-absorbing design for hammer fist strikes.

A steel rod in the grip provides rigidity in the grip without affecting the flex at the tip or ring. TAK Knife and I went through a few different lengths of steel rods to find the perfect rigidity. MSRP: $35.00.

The BasiX is constructed of polycarbonate to provide a more rigid option. Available in a tip close to the original or the BluntZ tip, the BasiX provides a close feel to the live C.U.T. 4.0. MSRP: $19.00.

I was very happy to work with TAK Knife to get these done in response to many requests for trainers. John put a lot of time into getting this right (the ring was a difficult new feature), and he really did get it right.

Gotta be honest, I just can’t see any reason to head into the woods without the Invictus from and .365. This is the kind of bushcraft folder that I think Nessmuk would have included in his trio. I can’t help but think that Kephart would agree.

So, I recently got the Tupik tent from and am totally impressed. It is listed as a two person tent, but I would say you could easily fit two parents and two children in here, with gear. Or three adults, with gear.
I am 5’ 9” and was able to easily and comfortably stand up.
The instructions said it is a two person set up, but I was able to set it up on my own, with no issues at all. Setup took about 20 minutes initially but now that I have done it, and undid the rats nest of tie out chords, I think I would be able to have it up in about ten minutes.
The construction is solid but the tupik is still light enough to easily carry into the woods with the handles on the zip up case.
Speaking of the zip up case, as crazy as it sounds, that was one of the most impressive parts. When I took the tent down and went to put it away, it fit right back into the case, with room to spare - I could fit a nice lightweight tarp in there as well. Those who know, know.
