UK based duo Senay Abraham and Sandra Volcere have created Planet Diaspora to reflect and explore ideas and movements amongst those of the African-Caribbean diaspora. Each episode is available to watch on YouTube and to download as a podcast on Spotify, iTunes and Anchor. This channel and the accompanying podcasts will explore culture, current affairs, social issues and include guest interviews.

It’s been two years since George Floyd was murdered by a racist policeman within a police force and wider system which was judged as structurally racist.

Yesterday, the student film I made in the weeks after the killing was shown at the ICA as part of Kingston University’s graduation MA filmmaking 2020 screening.

It’s not the film I wanted to make.

At the time people talked about changing the world and breaking down structural racism.

I am wondering if anyone has noticed any changes apart from footballers taking the knee and more black people in adverts; any deeper changes culturally, institutionally or socially?

How did your life change? Maybe you are doing something different as a direct consequence.
