An addicts prayer

The drugs no longer work
My life is in flames
I've lost my mind
I've gone insane

The highs don't satisfy
The lows are too deep
I can't escape this cycle
It's a never-ending creep

Tears fall harder than rain
As I try to numb the pain
But it's all in vain
I'm just chasing a high in vain

I prayed to God
Forgive me for my sins
Free me from this addiction
I can no longer handle this

I've lost my way
Along this dark path
I'm drowning in despair
Can't escape this wrath

I'm afraid, dear God
For I have nowhere left to go
But I run to you
For only you can know

This addiction, it's brought
The worst out of me
But I know in your arms
I can finally be free

So please, dear God
Hear my desperate cry
I need your love and strength
To help me say goodbye

To this life of drugs
And all its toxic lies
I surrender to you
For only you can make me rise.
