"Nothing short of immaculate and intricate, Ghosts of the Great Highway is a masterpiece from Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters fame. I read a comment that wrote 'i'm always afraid i'll unconsciously kill myself when "duk koo kim's" on since i can't imagine listening to something so beautiful without wanting to die to it.' –– each song makes you want to wither so tenderly. There are albums to listen to when you want to feel heavy, and there are albums that make your body feel weightless. Mark sings of killers and adultery, of guitarists and mourned boxers in elegaic ode. Suddenly you are everyone."

"i had a the lumineers obsession back in 6th grade. i used to stay up at 2 am with my earphones on, blasting their EP. sometimes, i could be lying down and staring at the ceiling. sometimes, i'd be looking out the window and at the stars, which were significantly clearer and brighter back then. their songs made me think about love, or something as close to the definition of love that my 12 year old mind could comprehend at the time. they made me nostalgic over things that i've never experienced. and most importantly, they made me feel the closest feeling to coming home. i haven't listened as intently as i did back then these past few years, so when their tiny desk concert showed up in my youtube recommendations just last night, i clicked on it. i don't know how to describe the experience. i just know that i didnt look away for the entire duration of the video. i think i almost cried at some parts, but i didn't and i don't know why. i think their tiny desk is very timely. the quarantine has done a great job of putting all my feelings through the wringer, and i'm sure it's that way for a lot of other people as well. i think we all just needed a reminder to live through it, the way we always have. and i think we all just needed music to come home to, to make us all feel safe."
