This week, we toured a new exhibit at the Two Mississippi Museums in Jackson. It features some of the most significant flags that have flown over the State of Mississippi.

They range from symbols of our first nations, black soldiers, confederate battle emblems, and resilience from disaster.

The exhibit is free to the public, and patrons can explore both of the nationally-acclaimed museums for free on Sundays.

Mississippi Edition producer Kobee Vance and I toured the Mississippi Reproductive Medicine facility in Flowood, MS. Thank you to Dr. Randall Hines, Marty Gebhart, Fertility Nurse Practitioner and the entire staff for opening their doors to us. Hundreds of babies are born each year in Mississippi due to the amazing work they're doing with invitro fertilization.

In light of the Supreme Court in Alabama ruling embryos are children, we wanted to take a closer look at the process of helping couples have children. Legislators in our neighboring state have since passed a law to protect IVF accessibility.

Juneteenth is recognized nationally as a federal holiday. Mississippi has not. Some state legislators want to codify it as a state holiday, but measures have not been passed out of committee. That's while the state continues to commemorate the confederacy through an official declaration of memorial day and history month.
