Twin Cities Trekkies is devastated to see the destruction and loss of lives and livelihoods of many who have been affected by the various wildfires in and around the Los Angeles area, many of whom are likely members of the greater Star Trek community. This includes our favorite actors, writers, producers, etc. who produced such great content over the last 58+ years.

A friend of our podcast, Mark Sickle, has organized a GoFundMe on behalf of his awesome Star Trek group, Star Trek Family - we're honored to be a part of this group - to help out the victims get back on their feet. You can donate as little or as much as you want.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the various Trek community members in the path of these wildfires and hope they stay safe. Those same thoughts and prayers are with the various firefighters that have been deployed to try and contain the fires.

The Star Trek Family, a fan organization, is raising Disaster Relief Money for … Mark Sickle needs your support for Support Star Trek Family in LA Fire Relief

Throughout 2025, we will be doing a 30 Years of Voyager Celebration on Twin Cities Trekkies. This will be in a similar vain to the DS9 Celebration we did this year.

The kick-off to this event will be January 17, exactly 30 years and ONE day to the day that the series premiered.

Look for a Google Form to be released sometime within the next week or so, so we can have our favorite podcasters, fans, and followers join us in celebrating three decades of the U.S.S. Voyager and her intrepid crew (pardon the pun).

We can't wait to get started.

AVAILABLE NOW - Twin Cities Trekkies continues to celebrate 30+ Years of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as Wes welcomes fellow Star Trek fan, Minnesotan and podcaster, Justin, to dive deep into "Past Tense" and the Bell Riots.

Both parts of "Past Tense" aired the two weeks before Star Trek: Voyager premiered in 1995, and they are often cited as two of the best episodes of Deep Space Nine, and one of the best two-parters in Trek history.

The podcast episode is unique in that it drops on the same day as Commander Sisko, Doctor Bashir and Lieutenant Dax land in San Francisco due to a transporter mishap in the 24th century.

The Star Trek Film Extravaganza is now over. The last one, talking with Zach from Casual Trekker about Star Trek 2009 dropped on Friday. Check it out wherever you get podcasts.

The podcast's attention now focuses on the rest of 2024. The 30+ Year Celebration of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine continues. Twin Cities Trekkies has reached out to numerous other podcasters and they have graciously accepted invitations to join this podcast and talk about Deep Space Nine.

This celebration, which began in February, will continue throughout the rest of 2024. With the exception of only two of the episodes, the episodes will be released bi-weekly. In addition, there are numerous non-DS9 episodes being planned and prepared.

However, we do have a schedule for at least until the end of September. Please remember: the Mini-Episode with Piotr Michael from Star Trek Resurgence is currently on hold until SAG-AFTRA settles their Video Game Strike. The episode IS ready to air, but the strike MUST be settled before it will air.

This upcoming Friday, Wes will sit down with Jen of The Geek Girls Story Salon to talk about Major Kira Nerys.

The following Friday, August 30, Justin Grays of the Grays Matter Podcast will join Twin Cities Trekkies on the day of The Bell Riots, to talk about this historic aspect of Star Trek with talking about that and the two-parter "Past Tense," which is often cited as one of the best episodes of DS9.

On September 6, Wes will do a Prodigy Season Two review and do some odds and ends.

On September 13, the Captains Quadrant podcast will join Wes in a discussion of Garak.

On September 20, in what is hoped to be a multi-episode series, Wes will be sitting down with Renegade Shipyards for a discussion of the Lost Voyages of The Enterprise with a discussion of Phase II's 13 episodes.

On September 27, Wes will sit down with Jodi of the Clonestar Podcast to talk about the relationship between Quark and his bar.

That is all for now!

Twin Cities Trekkies remembers comedic icon Robin Williams on this, the tenth anniversary of his passing. The news of his death sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry, and while this is not a Star Trek related post, he was almost a part of the franchise.

In 1991, on the recommendation of his good friend Whoopi Goldberg, the part of Professor Berlinghoff Rasmussen in the early fifth season Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "A Matter of Time," was written with him in mind, but due to his filming commitment to the film Hook, he was unable to be a part of the franchise. If he had been available, this episode of The Next Generation likely would have been a classic.

We mourn his untimely death from su***de, and we encourage you to check up on your loved ones who may be struggling mentally. Remember in the United States, you can call 988 and it will direct you to the Su***de Prevention Center. 😊
