The BIGGEST mistake I see business owners make on social… ❌🤫🫣

Thinking they “need to” post on social media so frequently that they burn themselves out and end up not utilizing it at all because it “doesn’t work”.

➡️ For so many of you, I hear social media is your LOWEST business task priority — and I totally get it! At the end of a long day, it’s probably the absolute last thing you want to do.

Because if you’re going in blind trying to DIY your social media, you probably…
😴Don’t know WHAT to create
😴Don’t have a “recipe”
😴Don’t have the time
😴And just don’t want to deal with it

But if I could give you any advice from a social media managers POV, I’d say this: if you want to do your own social media, start smaller than you think. Shoot for 2x a week, and build from there. Be intentional. Have fun with it 🥰😎

Since this is MY safe space too…you can take it from someone who (very, very ironically) is currently struggling to find the time to post on her biz account as much as she wants to 🫠🫣

How many of you feel this in your SOUL?! 😫

Like you can be a little “too much” for the world sometimes…

😏 Maybe you are a little “too” bold.
😍 A little “too” colorful.
🫣 A little “too” cautious.

Or (in my husband’s case) he is SO tenacious that he’ll stay up past midnight trying to fix something just because he can’t ever leave a project unfinished 😂🛠️🪚🪛

Me — I know that my empathy and sensitivity are my superpowers ✨🦋 I feel everything deeply. I have a hard time not absorbing the feelings of others. Don’t even try to make me watch a violent movie, I can’t do it. And I cry at everyyyyything. 😭😭

Maybe you have a quality like this too, that you have felt ashamed of or thought you needed to change. But let me promise you, it has given you gifts that others around you (and your clients) value greatly. And those gifts set you apart from everyone else. 🦄💙✨

When I work with my clients, I work to find ways to infuse your content with your WILDLY authentic self. ESPECIALLY your soul gifts that set you apart from the crowd! We can’t be high-vibe, high-energy super ladies all the time 🦸🏻‍♀️

I know when I get to the point feeling like a fish flopping around in the sand, gasping for a SINGLE OUNCE of brainpower, it’s time to take a union break 😵‍💫💜🫠

🪫What do you do to recharge on low-battery days? I personally like to have an ice cream sandwich, journal (and use some of these affirmations), watch a feel-good episode of TV (I’ve been rewatching old episodes of Q***r Eye), or take a walk around my block.

This might be controversial but… 🤔

I’m not here to pressure you to feel like you HAVE to hire a social media marketer in order for you to be successful online.

In fact, I see lots of business owners who are not only okay with spending their own time promoting their business, but they are GOOD at it and they ENJOY IT! And maybe that is you, and if so, that is seriously awesome!

But you have to remember, even though it’s free to log in and scroll online, you will either be using your own TIME or your MONEY to promote your business on it.

If you pay with time, that can be:
⏰ Learning about social media marketing
⏰ Listening to your audience
⏰ Content planning
⏰ Coming up with a strategy, editing, posting, and managing your community

If you pay with money, that can be:
🤑 Setting realistic goals to measure success by
🤑 Hiring a social media manager
🤑 Apps and software
🤑 Hiring for other contractor services (copywriting, video, etc)

But even if hiring help isn’t in your budget right now, there are LOTS of smart ways to invest in your marketing. Investing in a social media marketing coach, having your platforms audited, or even getting templates/apps/memberships can really lighten your mental load until you’re ready to pass the baton onto someone else.

The first time I had a warm lead ghost me to hire someone else?

I was PI**ED.

Absolutely crushed.

But also…I was weirdly fascinated by what (and WHY) it had happened. After a little cry (ngl), I dug in and figured out why.

I realized what this other person had that I didn’t…was absolute confidence. Boldness. She was LOUD. She talked about her wins. She was unapologetically herself. A. Total. Freaking. Badass. 💃⚡️🌶️🌹💋✨

So for a while, I alternated between anger and fascination and frustration and inspiration…

But I realized that while I had been carefully tip-toeing around, staying in my lane, my content came across as me being kind of…boring. With no sauce, no fillings, and total plain hamburger energy 🥱🍔

So if you haven’t noticed, it’s a new era around here! ⬆️These are 3 of the tenets I wrote for myself after this whole thing went down, and if you’ve ever had a similar situation happen to you, I hope they resonate.

Well…that was a longer break than I anticipated! 👋🏻

I left this page in August intending to take a few weeks off, but 3 months later, here I am.

To be totally honest with you, whenever I showed up here, I didn’t feel like I was being “me”. Because every time I logged in, I had something to hustle. I had to PROVE something. That I was worthy. That I was smart. That I was competent. The list goes on and on.

But what I realized?

I got caught up in trying to fight for the attention of people I didn’t even care about. It is SO easy for me to tell my clients not to get caught up in vanity metrics, but I fell straight into it, and boy oh boy, did I learn the hard way 🙈

The thing is, your social media is really (very simply) an ENERGY MATCH.

People come to your page and think, “Wow, this aligns with me!” or “Hmm, no thanks”. Energy matches energy. 🤝

So, I am going to start following my own advice, because I’ve missed you! 💕 I’m excited (and a little nervous ngl) dipping my toe back in after so long gone. I’d love to hear how your fall is going below - or just say hi ⤵️

All the negative beliefs that come from being a small business owner.

I’m too late to the game - everyone is doing this now.
I’m an imposter.
I’m not good enough to be successful.

Yes, there may be lots of other small business owners just like you.

But there is only one YOU.

🔥Only YOU that has that unique, special sauce only you can provide
🔥Only YOU who gets to decide how you show up every day.
🔥Only YOU whose voice has never been heard.
🔥Only YOU, who gets to say, “The road may be hard, but I’m doing it my way.”

Comparison really is the thief of joy. But there is room for everyone at the table, and I hope you’ll come have a seat next to me 💗
