The man in NYC who was arrested for pulling out an axe after getting into an altercation with several individuals at a Mcdonald's restaurant speaks out after being released from jail and says he wasn’t trying to hurt anyone.

31-year-old Bronx resident Michael Palacios got into an altercation with several other patrons at an NYC Mcdonald's and was hit repeatedly while keeping his cool. Several moments later, Palacios pulled out a Tomahawk axe and began to destroy the McDonalds while those who had just assaulted him ran in fear. Palacios then stopped and left the scene on his bike, where he was arrested a short time later. Sources say he was arraigned on fourth-degree criminal mischief and possession-of-weapons charges early Friday morning and freed hours later. Palacios told ABC News, “My intentions were not to hurt anyone…My intentions were not to put anyone in the hospital or dice anybody up…The reason why I pulled out the hatchet was, ‘Ok, I’m gonna get back at these guys…I’m gonna make sure that they don’t jump me again.’”

The ax-man, as social media has coined him, continued by saying, “I waited for them to finish what they were doing, and I just did what I wanted to do…The most important thing is, don’t be afraid to defend yourself.” Palacios, who works as a messenger, told reporters he carries the axe because “I’m always out there on the road, so I’m always actually getting into it with drivers, which is what the tomahawk is for…It’s not for people. It’s for trees and, you know, vehicles.”
