This year I met the most broken version of me.
Also, the strongest.

Oh, how incredibly hard it can be at times…and still yet, I know I am so blessed.

Grateful for the growth, and ready to keep learning in 2024. Thank you so much to all who are with us in our journey. 💕

Comment “category” and I’ll send you the link to the study’s chart that includes examples for each toy category!

I am LOVING this approach to toys and how helpful it was in my home - I already feel so much better about the current state, and ready for impact when Christmas adds to our stuff 🤪🙌🏼❤️

Let me know what you thought about this approach or what questions you have!

Will you be trying this?

Big oof.

When you’re *so* tired before the packing even begins - the house chores, the dinner plans, the organizing, the sick kiddo (tis the season), the work requests, the endless lists…that quite frankly, there’s not a single SPECK of energy left for this at the gathering.

Who else? 🙋🏼‍♀️

Moms, tell me in the comments what else is on your “do not bring to the table” list for this week. 🚫

Stay tuned + follow along .meets.mama for more support + solidarity as you navigate career, motherhood, & all of the mental load that comes with both. 💕

I bet you have questions and thoughts! I’ll hopefully get around to sharing more behind the scenes as we continue in this journey.

We are so grateful to family, friends, and the ladies inside the CMM Network who have lifted us up thus far, and continue to be a source of strength and support. 💙

What are your thoughts? Was this a helpful perspective?

Sometimes a little mindset shift can really change a moment for the better.

There are also some practical tips you can implement if missing milestones is still a stressor for you - would you want to see those? 💕

If childcare costs bring a lump in your throat or a pit in your stomach,

If the budget talks with your partner bring up arguments or tears,

If the deep (maybe even unspoken) ache of wanting to grow your family is halted by this logistical barrier,

You are not alone. 💗

You did not manage finances poorly,
You did not choose the wrong job,
You did not fail.

This is a structure problem, not your individual burden to carry- however- it is SO heavy, and it inevitably DOES fall on our shoulders.

Bringing some awareness to this topic this week .meets.mama so be sure to follow along. 💕

Never thought I’d be able to say some of my best friends are in Australia, NZ, and Canada!!

For many of us in the United States, the ability to see women’s health, postpartum, and family life honored SO much better in other countries - it can almost sting. However, when you get to expose your awareness directly from a friend in that culture, government, and societal structure, it’s empowering.

I find myself cheering & happy dancing that better support DOES exist, and even better when it benefits my friends I’ve grown to love 💕

Ladies, I’m so incredibly glad you’re in my network! 🩷

If you aren’t inside yet..consider this your personal invite 💕

No one talks about how much it stings to be the last one.

By now, there are pro tips and mom hacks about having dad do the emotional dropoffs…

But what about the exhausting pickups?

I can’t help but feel gross, embarrassed, and out of alignment with my work-life balance when my baby is the last one in the infant room.

I can’t help but feel like my mama heart aches with frustration when my toddler fills up on snacks on the drive home and then protests dinner…and can I really blame him? It’s 6pm.

No one talks about only getting an hour - the WORST hour - with our children when a job has long hours…or some moms who work 12hr shifts and may not see them at all.

“Quality over quantity!” we are reminded, but what if the reality is that everyone is so dang exhausted that there isn’t much quality to be spared?

I don’t have a mom hack for this one…

•Just allow the tears when they need to slip down your cheek.

•Say your feelings out loud so they exist in the world instead of just the lonely, dark spaces of your mind.

•And know, that this is such a SMALL blip of a season in the grand scheme of their lives. It doesn’t make the here & now feel any easier…but at least I know we won’t ALWAYS be cramming our lives into a single, messy, evening hour.

They know their mama, and they how much they are loved. 💗

If I had to describe the reason you belong inside the CMM Network with *only one* thing ~ it’s to 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣.

I see you:
You’re putting in long hours, rushing out the door or scurrying to the laptop, you rush to daycare pickup, you scramble to get dinner on the table, your kids are SPENT so you’re on the crunch to get them to bed…you take a brief sigh - but not long - because the house needs picked up, the bottles washed, the dishes done, the bags packed…all for the next day to do it again.

Every minute is accounted for.

That’s why you need a village of mom friends who are there in the nooks & crannies of your day.

That’s why you can’t commit to a park play date or a dinner with friends.

⭐️What is the Career Meets Mama Network? ⭐️
•It’s an entire village of working moms who connect, relate, and boost each other up.
•It’s an entire village who SEES you, and knows the type of day you’re having…because, she’s having that day, too.

📲DM me and I’ll send you the link, or check out the 🔗 in bio.

Be with others who get it. 💕

The mental load of researching, deciding, & budgeting for the ✨perfect✨ gear that makes life with kids more convenient 🤪😵‍💫🫣

📣A few important disclaimers:
• I am not affiliated with any of these products
• I own them all either from huge sales or secondhand
• There are still SO many other options (tandem, buildable, converter seats, add-on toddler stands.. 😵‍💫)
• We have never been to Disney or plane traveling with them, so I cannot speak to these “big” categories

What are your thoughts?!

What style works best for your fam?

Happy to answer any questions in the comments - this topic has SO many factors to consider!

Part of the story that led to creation of .meets.mama

It was March 2020, I was a first time mom in the thick of breastfeeding, and I had a 3.5 week old newborn when the world shut down.

We struggled. He didn’t latch well, there was pain, and I had no idea what to do. Lactation services were closed. I researched so much, that there was a point where I truly wanted to pursue credentialing to be a lactation consultant on top of my role as a pharmacist. Tongue tie revision, mastitis, and pumping just enough for daycare bottles…we made it to 12.5 months of exclusive breastfeeding, abruptly ended by a horrific, blistered, ear infection that caused a nursing refusal that ended our time. I know to be incredibly grateful - but it also was not a journey with ease. Weaning had sent me into a hormonal shift that was so severe, I didn’t know what was happening. No one talks about weaning depression & anxiety.

Fast forward- we are now 5 months in with my 2nd son. We began triple feeding for the first 2 weeks to overcome jaundice. Then came colic & reflux. I struggle with oversupply and forceful letdown. In the beginning, I’d do a reclined position to help this flow, so far that I’d practically have to lay down to feed baby. Then came reflux meds, ENT, chiropractic, and bottle refusal. Debate about dairy/soy elimination in my diet, versus formula.

Which is best? What meds next? Which specialist to try?

We just had a speech therapy & oral myofunctional evaluation, which diagnosed a class 3 posterior tongue tie - missed by multiple prior specialists. Weak suck, high palate. Next, to consider tie revision & post-op mouth stretches 6x per day.

The blessing of reflection- this snapshot in time:
• I have a perfectly “normal” 3 year old to remind me that this phase won’t last forever.
• I have a struggling 5 month old to remind me that feeding journeys are all-consuming. It is my most important job right now.

Sending love to all who are reflecting or in the thick of it. ❤️

Sometimes, I think our fast-paced corporate society forgets the basics.

Automation and artificial intelligence are wonderful tools, and the modern workplace has come so far with optimization - but at the end of the day, the human component is irreplaceable.

I can’t help but feel as though our journeys through motherhood have given us the ability to feel, see, and consider a layer of perspective that would otherwise be unseen.

In a workplace culture that might feel ice cold, I hope you can lean into your instincts and know the immense value you provide. 💕

Wearing multiple hats is certainly not a new concept, however:

When a mother returns to work after nurturing her new baby, it is undoubtedly the 𝙥𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 of these roles ~ two entire identities ~ morphing together, into her new version of self.

Hats off to all of the partners, family members, colleagues, and supervisors who witness this transition, and support her as she finds her new way. 🤍

But…𝙃𝙤𝙬?

If these questions (& so many more) are growing louder each day that you grow closer to the end of maternity leave, I’m sending you the BIGGEST hug.

I was there just a short two weeks ago.
And, let me fill you in on a little secret…
No matter how much you prepare, how much confidence you manifest, or even how ready you might actually be…there will still be some soft, whispering “hows” that sneak in.

Can you relate? 💗

What I did differently this pregnancy compared to my first 📝
*TW: pregnancy & birth*

Throughout my first pregnancy, like most first-time moms, I had no idea what to expect.

I went through the motions, followed rules about forbidden foods, attended routine prenatal visits, prepared a registry, and nested by choosing the nursery theme.

But then came postpartum, and a newborn.

Ripped wide open - my heart flooded with immediate concern over how to keep this tiny human alive - learning so much about his development, while placing my healing on the back burner, expecting it to happen on it’s own.

There is no other time in our healthcare when we undergo a major surgery and are expected to care not only for ourselves, but also a brand new completely helpless baby, a mere 2-4 hours later.

Studies suggest anywhere from 9-50% of women have traumatic experiences during childbirth. I can say, there were moments of my first birth that felt terrifying.

This journey is a beautiful, empowering blessing, but it is not without risk. Sometimes pregnancy & childbirth is a stunning moment of bliss, and for others, it is not.

When acknowledging my heart’s desire for another child, I promised myself a few things if I were privileged to carry another life…

• I would speak kindly to myself about my body’s changes.
• I would prioritize my health from the start, but offer grace when I felt past my limits.
• I would approach pregnancy & childbirth with the same passion for research, learning, & more knowledge about the process as I did with my first son’s development.
• I would prepare my mind & body for birth as much as I possibly could.

As I face the week we get to meet our second little love, I can only reflect on this pregnancy with an overwhelming sense of gratitude.

The details, the prep work, and the appointments were SO much…and the birth plan might still go differently than planned.

I am finally in a spot where none of the details matter…

No matter how, you will make your way into this world so soon..and your mama has arms wide open for this new phase in our journey 💕
