Belize, San Pedro Fm invites you to watch Miss Universe Belize, Iris Salguero compete in the biggest international beauty pageant at 7:00p.m (ET) today on FOX, Telemundo or the Miss Universe Official Youtube channel.

It will all be happening at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

This time round only 74 countries are in the race and our Miss Belize Iris Salguero is in it to win it!

According to police, one of its own, a junior police detective shot at a taxi fearing for his life. The passenger shot os a 20 year old woman. Best informayion indicates that it unfolded sometime around 4:50 p.m on the Philip Goldson Highway just outside of Belize City. Police say that DC Darnell Garcia was driving a Dodge Charger in the direction of Belize City. Accorsingly, Garcia noticed that a Black SUV with taxi plates was overtaking him and that he did not recognize the SUV. As per information available, DC Garcia feared that the SUV was trying to run him off the road in the process of overtaking. As a result, DC Garcia used his personal firearm to fire two warning shots at the taxi. Garcia then fired a third shot at the passenger side of the taxi, says police which was being driven by 48 year old taxi operator Patrick Castillo . His daughter 20 year old Patricia Castillo was the passenger
She was shot to the right side of her buttocks. Castillo was admitted to the KHMH in a stable condition. Police says they met DC Garcia on the KHMH compound. He admitted to firing the gun shots, says police. Garcia says he acted in self defense, stating that the driver of taxi was trying to run him off the road.

Did you know Mosquito Coast Movie was filmed in San Pedro, Belize? About 4 million dollars was spent during this time for the filming alone!

The Mosquito Coast is a 1986 American drama film directed by Peter Weir and starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Andre Gregory, and River Phoenix. It is based on the 1981 novel of the same name by Paul Theroux. The film tells the story of a family that leaves the United States and tries to find a happier and simpler life in the jungles of Central America. However, their jungle paradise quickly turns into a dystopia as their stubborn father's behavior becomes increasingly erratic and aggressive. It was shot in the cities of Cartersville and Rome in Georgia, in addition to Baltimore, Maryland, and Belize.

NO POLICE OFFICER SHOULD TAKE YOUR PHOTOGRAPH NOR THAT OF YOUR PERSONAL DOCUMENTS IF YOU ARE NOT BEING DETAINED OR CHARGED

The Belize Police Department was taken to court in relation to officers taking pictures of persons and/or their documents when stopped and checked during patrols etc.

Two youth advocates, Mr. Bryton Codd and Mr. Greg Nunez saw the matter as completely unethical and worthy of a challenge in court when they themselves felt violated when officers stopped and searched them, while also taking their pictures and pictures of their personal documents, even though there was no evidence of criminality or charges ever being laid against any of them.

The result? The immediate discontinuance of taking photographs in non-detention situations. "ALL Police Officers must cease and desist the taking of still photographs or videos of persons and/or identification documents in situation where those persons are not charged or detained and held in custody.
