our team has curated a collection of entrances, each a doorway to new worlds and experiences — a practice known as portalling. in narratives, portals are everywhere, from mysterious tunnels to forbidden thresholds, doors that beg the question: should they be opened? fun fact: about 30% of the highest-grossing films include some form of portal.

conducted a significant study on portals in narrative media, analyzing hundreds of cultural artifacts to identify 18 distinct portal archetypes. portals in stories go beyond simple entrances; they serve multiple roles. they reflect the physics of their world — magical like the wardrobe in the chronicles of narnia, technological like the time machine in back to the future, or natural, like black holes. they also divide characters, marking insiders versus outsiders: doctor who navigates portals routinely, while alice in wonderland stumbles upon one by chance.

in cultural storytelling, portals often create social or even class boundaries. think of platform 9¾ in harry potter, accessible only to those of magical heritage. portals also present narrative puzzles — will they remain open? where do they lead? and most importantly, does one have the courage to cross?

in western culture, portals are mainly visual — mirrors, doorways, tunnels. but other traditions incorporate all senses: portals can be voices, music, movement, or even physical sensations like pain. this idea of crossing thresholds, of portalling, even has roots in spiritual practice, symbolizing a mystical journey between realities.

so, imagine if each door in the photo is a portal — which one would you choose? 🌌🚪✨

anti-anti-ageing serums by at

in this series, ceramic perfume flacons merge iconic fragrance shapes with the cultural image of the aging woman, often seen through the lens of the witch archetype. the artist explores how society bombards us with messages to fear aging, surrounding us with relentless demands to “preserve youth,” much like folklore witches seeking eternal beauty through perilous potions.

as a category, perfumes lean heavily on archetypes in their advertising—since we can’t smell them trough a screen, they rely on powerful images of lovers, innocents or sometimes enchantresses to convey they allure.

the first piece, with echoes of jean paul gaultier’s iconic flacon, transforms this familiar form into critique of our obsession with youth 💋

our coverage of London Fashion Week SS25 is out.

in the span of five days, we immersed ourselves in the transformative essence of . as we witnessed a multitude of shows and presentations, it became evident that fashion, now more than ever, serves as a profound mirror to society’s evolving narratives. this season wasn’t just about garments; it was about pushing the boundaries of creativity, where designers not only showcased their work but redefined fashion as a critical force for change.

in a world grappling with the urgent realities of climate change, fashion stands at the forefront of sustainability. SS25 embodied the tension between innovation and environmental responsibility, where experimentation called attention to the delicate balance between beauty and the preservation of our planet. the collections were a reminder that fashion must not only reflect our times but also inspire solutions to global crises, underscoring its role as a powerful agent for reimagining the way we live.

we extend our gratitude to , , , and the brilliant minds and creatives who make fashion week a space for critical discourse on sustainability and the future of our world.

gardens are not untouched pieces of nature; they represent a human vision of what nature should be.

persian gardens, with their symmetrical designs and thoughtful integration of water, plants, and architecture, have long represented more than just spaces of beauty. they evoke a sense of paradise on earth, where nature and human intervention blend seamlessly. the iconic char-bagh design, with its four-part layout, mirrors this harmony, drawing from ancient traditions of balance and order.

the fin garden in kashan, one of the most famous persian gardens, embodies centuries of craftsmanship. its flowing water channels and lush greenery stand as a testament to how such spaces provided respite from the harshness of the desert. but beyond their practicalities, gardens like fin have been spaces of reflection, power, and even political significance throughout history.

in contemporary discourse, the idea of the garden is resurfacing in new contexts, like at the venice biennale, where it was framed as a vector of decolonial and ecological expression. similarly, in luxury brands such as gucci’s *equilibrium*, the garden is employed as a symbol of utopia—an unattainable yet desired connection to nature in an increasingly industrialized world.

the garden remains a metaphor for both personal escapism and a broader reflection of societal concerns. It is a place where narratives of history, memory, and future sustainability intertwine, leaving room for continued exploration of what these spaces mean in today’s world.

footwear is our daily companion, enduring all the twists and turns of life. It’s the main point of contact between our body and the physical world, taking on our weight, the miles we walk, and the elements we encounter. even the most stunning pair loses its charm if it’s uncomfortable. for an active person, comfortable shoes are synonymous with love for our feet.

shoe choice mirrors our lifestyle: how far we walk, the terrain we cover, and the weather we face. shoes aren’t just functional; they communicate our identity to the world, revealing who we are with a single glance. they tell stories, hold social capital, and mark our place in different groups. from the rebellious spirit of dr. martens to the elegant allure of louboutins, footwear speaks volumes.

at , each pair on display tells a unique story, reflecting the wearer’s style, identity, and connection to the world

perediza comes from one of the ancient persian languages, avestan 𐬞𐬀𐬌𐬭𐬌⸱𐬛𐬀𐬉𐬰𐬀 (perediza), which means “garden.” by the 6th/5th century bce. this word evolved into greek as παράδεισος (parádeisos), signifying a “park” or “garden.” this term was later adopted into latin as paradisus, used to describe the garden of eden, ultimately giving rise to the word “paradise” as we know it today—a symbol of the perfect, sacred garden and a sanctuary of beauty and harmony.

our magazine, perediza, is named in honor of this rich lineage—a word that has transcended cultures and centuries, encapsulating the universal human yearning for a paradise, both earthly and divine. just as paradise has come to symbolize the perfect garden, a sanctuary of beauty and harmony, perediza represents our aspiration to cultivate a similar space within the realm of ideas. here, in the pages of our magazine, we seek to revive the ancient dialogues that once bridged east and west, to explore the wisdom that has shaped civilizations, and to foster a deeper understanding of the world we share.

yet, perediza is not merely about looking back; it is about creating a paradise here and now. our magazine is a beacon of true and honest journalism, a testament to quality over quantity, and a guide to a better way of living and thinking. we challenge the status quo, inviting our readers to engage critically with the world, to seek out the deeper truths, and to imagine the possibilities of a life well-lived.

in perediza, we are building a paradise of the mind, where ideas flourish, walls protect without imprisoning, and every word is a seed planted with care. we invite you to join us in this endeavor, to question the world as it is, and to help shape the paradise that could be.
