On the drawing board

We’re working with figures, essential data, pressing issues – gathered from the ground and those emerging from various sectors – deeply affected by the current turn of events. We’re doing that within the ambit of the larger interest of the national reforms.

When time calls for it, we hope to share our modest, but well thought out, real and attainable compact that goes beyond just tackling, what appears to be feeding, one of the greatest challenges of a generation today.

Until then, please bear the sun that we represent in mind and the beam of peace and prosperity we hope to be able to return to the people.

Nanong-Shumer Demngo Ata Wangchuk, Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa party, Pemagatshel. #2023 election

27/08/2022

Thuendrel’s first three

In a simple ceremony, but auspicious nevertheless, Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa introduced three of its candidates in Thimphu today.

They received khadar and prayers of good wishes from Thuendrel President Kinga Tshering who said it marked another critical milestone for the party.

Representing Thuendrel from South_Thimphu for the 2023 parliamentary elections is Kinlay Dorjee, 52, the capital city’s former thrompon, who served the position for two terms that spanned a decade.

Prior to that he served as an electrical engineer for 15 years with Bhutan Power Corporation and the Department of Power around the time when the state bore the responsibility of stringing power lines, over vales and hills, to light up lives in the remotest communities of the country.

Kinlay Dorji specialises in power transmission and distribution and urban development, specifically, public transport, service delivery and infrastructure.

Thuendrel’s candidate for Lamgong_Wangchang constituency in Paro is 46-year-old Sangay Dorji.

An ardent advocate of environmental management and a keen player in green technology, Sangay Dorji specialises in renewable energy, climate change, environment management and industries.

Applying his knowledge and skills at the Ministry of Economic affairs for nine years helped him hone them as to become an international expert and consultant for the Punatsangchhu I and II projects. Five years later, he joined the UN Development Program as its national energy and environment expert.
Thuendrel fields Kinzang Thinley as its Kabji_Talo candidate from Punakha. The 43-year-old brings eight years of experience as cinematographer with the national broadcasting station, BBS and seven years as a tour guide under the tourism council.

He specialises in film and television production and has broad understanding of the ever-evolving media industry and advancing digital technology.

Speaking at the occasion, Thuendrel President Kinga Tshering said the first three candidates broadly represented the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) aspect of the party’s implement that is critical in fulfilling the national ambition of expanding digital and economic horizons.

Thuendrel is in

Having received the Certificate of Registration from the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) today, Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa is the new political party to emerge in the 2023 elections.

Thuendrel is probably the first new political party in almost a decade to be registered with ECB.

In a simple ceremony attended by Thuendrel supporters, members, office bearers, journalists and well-wishers at the Thuendrel office today, party President Kinga Tshering said the occasion bought an overwhelming sense of achievement.

“It stems from the satisfaction of reaping the fruits of our relentless preparations to see this day,” he said, speaking to a group of Bhutanese journalists, before adding that it came as relief to the rest of its members and supporters across the country, who regularly inquired, for the last few months, about the outcome of the process.

“This also brings a great sense of apprehension. The real work begins now and we already feel the weight of the responsibility on our shoulders,” Kinga Tshering said. “But with the continued support of the people, whom we wish to visit soon, we are optimistic.”

According to Thuendrel Vice President Chenga Tshering, the party will seek guidance of the ECB officials on the familirisation tour of the country it wishes to embark on soon.

Wishing everyone a great preparation. Looking forward for a grand event.

The Ukraine war has only given me more reasons to admire and respect the hardship our Monarchs endured in the face of incessant Geo political game.

More than ever we now know how difficult it is to protect ones sovereign status as a small Nation where respecting and living in harmony has become an understatement.

As I speak of this I do not wish to spark patriotic sentiments from our fellow netizens but at least sow the seeds of gratification daily in our hearts for our monarch and the Government as we are witnessing the biggest Atrocity the world has known since ww2.

A lost Bhutanese man rescued from India

Officials from law and order in Phuentsholing today received a 55-year-old Bhutanese man, Dorji Wangdi from Jaigaon.

Dorji is originally from Khoma in Lhuentse.

According to sources, he was found loitering between Malbazaar, Salugara, Kalimpong, Mangpo, and Darjeeling areas in India unable to return to Bhutan.

On February 26, 2022, Dorji was spotted near Bagrakote-MES. Duars Expressmail, an anti-human trafficking NGO from North Bengal and Sikkim, and Connecting Nations, a local news outlet, coordinated his return to Bhutan with Bhutanese authorities. ILoveSiliguri, a local community on social media too had posted about him earlier and had asked for help.

Dorji entered Bhutan at around 10:50am today. All expenses to bring home were borne by the Bhutanese government.
