🎃🌡️ Here is a look at the record highs that were broken or tied for Halloween 2024. It was certainly a memorably warm one. A few places touched 80° today, but no records were set. Near record breaking warmth will return Tues-Wed next week with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s following the weekend cool down.

01/11/2024

Yes, it's that time of the year again. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, don't forget to set your clocks BACK one hour on Saturday night! ⏰🌅

01/11/2024

🎃Happy Halloween! A not so spooky forecast is in store today with plentiful sunshine and an increase in clouds late.

However, it will be frighteningly warm with highs in the 70s/80s where a few ghostly records may be in jeopardy this afternoon 🪦.

01/11/2024

Good evening! Another cold front with little precipitation associated with it will move through the area Friday. This front is currently bringing some showers across the midwestern states southward towards the Gulf coast but expect a lot of this to fizzle out before it gets here, similar to what we've seen time after time this Fall.

🏜️ With no substantial rain expected for the foreseeable future, impacts from the drought are likely to expand. Fortunately the growing season is ending, but drought can have impacts that spread well beyond agriculture.

This is no joke. We can have a fire just as the State Forests have.

Surface high over the northern Plains early this
afternoon will build southward into the central Plains by
tonight. Meanwhile, an upper trough will extend from a closed
upper low over eastern Canada and will build down into the
Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Shortwave energy will pass through
the region this afternoon and tonight, and the base of the
trough will remain over the region.

Lows tonight will once again mainly be in the low to mid 30s, though in the low 40s in Philadelphia and along the coasts. Once again, patchy frost is possible away from the urban centers, with more widespread frost likely in the southern Poconos, Lehigh Valley, and northwestern New Jersey.

This Storm will not affect us but the devastation Florida will face is going to be unbelievable. If you have Friends or Family in the Florida area that will be hit keep in mind that right now that area is in evacuation Mode and phone systems and internet are getting backed up and some systems are down due to the volume of people trying to get info or trying to get help to get out of the affected area. Our prayers are with the people involved and we hope every one keeps safe.

NJ Task Force One is in the Carolinas so I would bet they are going to transition to Florida once there current Task is complete.

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
319 PM EDT Sun Oct 6 2024
..SYNOPSIS...
Surface high pressure continues to influence the region this
afternoon. A cold front approaches tonight and will cross through
Monday morning. Surface high pressure returns thereafter and holds influence over the region into next weekend.

NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/
High pressure located over New England has led to clear skies across much of the region this afternoon with just some fair weather clouds over southern NJ and DE. Temps have rebounded nicely from this morning with most locales currently in the 70s this afternoon.

A cold front currently lies back to our west across the eastern
Great Lakes which will be approaching the region late tonight before crossing through on Monday. The best forcing will remain situated to our north and west across New York State and western Pennsylvania, so while the thunder threat remains low, there will likely be a decaying line of showers approaching the area after midnight. The best chance for any showers will be north and west with up to a tenth of an inch of QPF possible. For areas south and east, a few spotty showers remain possible through early Monday morning but will be a lot more scarce in coverage. With cloudy skies expected tonight, lows will be back on the mild side, mostly in the mid 50s
to low 60s.

By Monday morning, the cold front will be making steady progress
across the area, clearing the coast by the afternoon. Skies are
expected to clear rather quickly behind the front with temps
returning closer to normal...mostly in the upper 60s to mid 70s.
However, it will be quite breezy at times behind the front with
northwesterly winds occasionally gusting up to 25-30 mph making it feel a bit more like Autumn.

SHORT TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Surface high pressure to our west begins to build in Monday night
and Tuesday. This will bring northwest winds and clearing skies with
cooler temps. Lows Monday night will be mainly in the 40s across the region, though some low 50s may be sprinkled in the heart of the Philly metro and at the immediate coasts of NJ and DE. Highs on Tuesday are forecast to generally top out in the mid-upper 60s for most areas with mainly clear skies continuing.

Guidance continues to indicate some shortwave energy propagating through Tuesday night/Wednesday around a large upper level low centered to our north over Quebec. However with the surface high pressure remaining in control and a dry W/NW flow, some increase in cloud cover will likely be all that occurs. Temperatures Tuesday night and Wednesday look to be remain fairly similar compared to Monday night and Tuesday except some upper 30s will be possible for lows over the Pocono Plateau.
