So 1. Let’s all pray for Alan Menken’s back for carrying the entirety of Disney Classics on it, and 2. I’m aware that this movie is not a true historical representation✌🏼😗 I love it as a fictional story through the magic of Disney and the lesson of learning from each other’s cultures and ways of life!
But truly what draws me to the character of Pocahontas is her connection and perspective on nature, and how she so freely moves in tandem with it. Her jumping off that waterfall into that river while singing is all I could ever dream of lol🥹 Just around the Riverbend is such an adventure girly anthem and I’m here for it.
All of these shots were from 📍Acadia National Park in Maine. The movie takes place in Virginia I believe, but New England vibes!

Where are my LOTR fans at?!🧝♀️
One thing that attracts me to travel the most is that it often brings imagination to reality. Even if LOTR is filmed in real places (NZ & Others) and based on real places (I believe Rivendell was inspired by places in Switzerland) the fact that we can connect the real place to the imaginary makes it feel quite literally other-worldly.💭
I had this on repeat when I was in Switzerland (Adelboden). Listening to epic music in an epic place made me feel immersed in the story and the destination alike. I love art and I love nature, and when the two can come together it makes me feel like I m in the exact right place in the exact right time.🎶🏔️✨

🐾I got the idea for this video as I talked with my friend and sustainability role model @juliaxjeffrey. Julia studied sustainability in school and did her practicum at a zoo, so a lot of these ideas and conclusions come from my conversation with her. In her words, “I used to be animal-lover-vegan to the extreme lol…then I matured a bit, researched more, and even…got the opportunity to work at a zoo.”

In addition to number 2, it is always better to book a nonstop flight. Unfortunately, with United airlines, although they are committed to being mindful of their carbon impact, there are not a lot of nonstop flights to choose from! So, ❌ on that one for us, we will have to stop in New Jersey on the way there and DC on the way back.
In addition to number 3, you can also tread right by choosing experiences that support marginalized or under represented communities (I haven’t chosen one yet, but there is a ton of Native American history in the New England area that I would love to get more educated on! Let’s mark that one as pending!).⚠️

It’s our 8th year of our Destin family vacation!! First one being married 👀 Here are my recs from just this year and from what we’ve done in years past:
1. The Sea Blaster: the most fun booze cruise in all of Destin. Blasts all your fave jams, and on the sunset cruise, you will see TONS of dolphins, and this year we saw a WHALE SHARK!!! It’s fun for the whole family. @seablasterdestin
2. The HarborWalk: After your time in the sea blaster, go out to eat on the Harbor Walk. We usually go to East Pass bc of the incredible food, but stop by Harry T’s if you are there on the weekend for some epic karaoke. Also make a day to visit the Harbor Walk - there’s tons of fun shops and games, even a free fall excursion! @hwvdestin @eastpassseafood @harrytslighthouse
3. Gilligan’s Watersports: We have gone to Gilligan’s year after year to rent jet skis for the 9 AM Dolphin tour and we CONTINUE to return. This year, our guide took us out to crab island and I’ve seen the most dolphins I ever have on the tour!! It’s so fun and so magical 😭🐬 @gilligansdestin
Destin is an incredibly affordable family vacation. Don’t get me wrong - it can get very crowded, but for the most part it is always very clean and the beaches are just beautiful!! There are plenty of big vacation rentals for big parties - ours was 12! Consider Destin and these excursion options for your upcoming family vacation.

Visiting here was my perfect opportunity to hop in this trend😍
This little gem is just 4 hrs from the DFW area and just under an hour from Austin. Here are my recs from visiting this charming Wes Anderson-esque town:
- Stay on the Blanco River. One cute little place is 7A Ranch - we didn’t stay here, but it’s a perfect location on the river. Get a couple of Cayman Jacks and floaties and your GOLDEN - it also has a pool and a grill at each condo 👀 @7a_ranch
- Go to The Creek House for Dinner - perfectly on a creek in the middle of town and their chicken tinga tacos were INCREDIBLE!!! @creekhousewtx
- If you like eclectic collectibles, you need to check out The Old Mill Store. From kaleidoscopes to Turkish lamps you can find anything in here that will fit your style.

Some tips for going to the Aspen/Glenwood Springs Area…
- Downtown Aspen is a must. We had an amazing Italian dinner @brunelleschis and an INCREDIBLE dessert from the infamous @paradise_bakery_aspen
- Glenwood Springs had the most fun and quaint mini amusement park called Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park @glenwoodcaverns. The draw for us was to tour the fairy caverns and King’s Row caverns…some centuries old geological geek out moments here
- My absolute biggest recommendation is to GET TATTOOED by @transientneedles
- Lastly, watching cloud 9 @dovecameron & @labenward and wishing you could snowboard is also a must. Other movie recommendations from this trip include free guy, sing 2, maze runner, and teen beach movie.*

I LOVE Vacation Rentals.
And I’m obsessed with the ones that make you feel like you are in a movie.
So I decided to find some of the best picks for you.
I arranged this in mind with basically it being a trip around the world. A lot of these places are surprisingly affordable. I always have a hard time when clients want to settle for a ratchet stay when I believe the stay is at LEAST 75% the experience. So why not see the world through the eyes of an amazing castle, safari lodge, or luxury chapel.
Of course, this isn’t limited to only being an all in one trip. Book a few, or even just one! Incredible stays in incredible places do not have to be completed back to back.
As a fellow cheap-y traveler myself - it’s time to abandon Airbnb and raise your standards to actual, vetted vacation rentals or hotels. I know, it’s a hard reality. But you are paying for an experience - don’t settle for less.
