Some tips to my younger self as an entrepreneur (Saved the most important one for last):
•
1. Find something you enjoy. Turn it into a job.
2. Find smart people to surround yourself with. Then turn that job into a business.
3. Don’t call yourself a business owner just because you’re self-employed. You’re a job owner. They are two completely different things. Neither one is right or wrong. Just different.
4. Stop trying to do everything yourself. Yes, it saves money upfront. But the time it takes you to learn that skill and implement it correctly could have been used in a more efficient way which will start cash-flowing your business sooner.
5. Start now. Your first business strategy will be horrible. Your first video will be cringe. Your first website will look like a 5th grader made ir. Your first sales pitch will be terrible. But you can’t make it to your 100th without completing your 1st.

We are growing quickly! And because of that, I am looking to build a team of talent in the area that I can trust putting behind my brand name! Do you own a camera? 📸 Well you probably have a steak sitting somewhere in your freezer too. But if you were to meet Gordon Ramsay, you probbbablllyyy wouldn’t challenge him to a steak cook off would you? So why are you trying to compete with all the other companies out there who are hiring professionals to create content for them?

Hiring a team of professionals who can quickly create effective content that turns viewers into customers not only clears your plate of having to look up YouTube videos on how to do a specific transition, but it also allows you more time to do what you do best. Which is, running your business.

Take this into consideration next time you try shooting content for your own small business. How much is your time worth as an owner? Then figure out how much time are you spending brainstorming new content, filming, editing, and then coming up with a caption. Even after adopting a solid process, this is bare minimum 3 hours of your time which could be spent working new leads. If your time is worth $50 an hour, that’s $150 of your time EVERY occasion you try to create new content. That’s $2,250/month if you’re posting 15 times a month. And the craziest part, for even less than that amount per month, you could have a professional do all that work for you, allowing you to focus on actually running your business. New logos are in! Now the question is... Do I make these the new profile photo for my business account? Or should I keep my current profile picture? I love the fact that my current picture humanizes me and reminds people that behind the business name is an actual person. But I also love the clean look a logo gives to the branding. After doing some research, most Digital Marketing Agencies seem to have a logo as their profile picture. Also, I do plan to hire multiple positions over the next year, so it won't always just be my face on the company. Let me know your thoughts!

About 2 months ago, I sat down with myself to be completely honest about my business plan. It sucked. Plain and simple. I was constantly going after one client, filming that video, editing, fulfilling the project, and then back to square one of looking for new clients again. As a small media agency, this is a common problem creatives run into if they don’t have the funding to outsource from the beginning. But I knew there had to be a better way. After spending a month taking a step back from accepting new clients, and countless hours researching and speaking with other media agencies, I’ve finally created a scalable and sustainable system that is a hybrid of all the other businesses I saw. Since launching this new system, I’ve had 3 consultations with new clients, and received amazing feedback from each one. Looking forward to continue optimizing this new process and providing the best possible service for every new client we onboard. So happy I took the time to step back, and really evaluate how I could do things better. Here’s to new beginnings, and big things coming in 2023.

Everyone say hello to Shawna! She has been an instructor with Cyclebar for 2 months, but has been riding for a little over a year. Her favorite part of Cyclebar is the community that surrounds it. She said that everyone really is a family, and it shows from the riders all the way to the Cyclebar Staff. And the coolest random fact is that her full-time job is actually being a police officer.

Modularity is everything. And the FX3 gives me exactly that. I seem to ALWAYS get asked what camera I use for my A cam, so for everyone asking, it’s the FX3. From a compact tiny cinema camera that looks like nothing crazy, all the way into a fully rigged setup that will impress any client. Are all of the extra accessories necessary? Absolutely not. But when showing up to a set with a new client who isn’t familiar with camera equipment, seeing a much larger setup will tend to gain immediate trust, vs showing up with just the small FX3 body and a lens. Could I film something just as good with a simple FX3 body? Of course. But not all clients know that. That’s why I love this cinema camera so much. For clients who understand, and projects where I need something a bit more discreet, the tiny body is much easier to work with than a Red Komodo or an FX6. But the fully rigged setup is always there for when I need it.
