I JUST WATCHED IT!!!

I’m so extremely proud of my SisterS in this film. Their love for Bessie Stringfield is genuine, so happy to call them my SisterS.

400 Mile Motorcycle Ride Challenge in October COMPLETED. Rode with my Sister Deborah Kellogg Caldwell to Charleston SC to take my Club Sister Debra QueenBee Leary out for lunch. Queen is a retired 28 years army veteran so this challenge was an ideal opportunity to check on her, give her a hug and fellowship. Prevent Solider su***de, check on your people. 💙🖤✊🏼

I am beyond heartbroken… 💔 My sincere condolences to Bam Baker family and friends. Bam passed doing my dream ride in my home Country. Made it to Fort Wayne, IN. I was greeted by a welcoming Crew, Red Tails MC had met me an hour from my destination to es**rt me into town. It was an honor and a privilege riding with them. I don’t freely go around calling folks my Brothers but these gentlemen are My Brothers from another. True Gentlement, True Brotherhood! Stay tuned for my Red Tails MC Black History Ride Documentary. I named this article the way I did because in her own right she has chosen to be a part of a male-dominated subculture and has become a KING in her own lane!!!

Introducing to some and presenting to others a sister from another mister! Kurvez Alabama!!

1. How did you get your start riding?

To be truthful, I wasn’t concerned with riding. I use to go to Myrtle Beach every year since 1999 and once I was riding with my ex-husband (at the time he was just my boyfriend) and as we entered the freeway (I was on the back), we leaned and I didn’t lean so my foot slipped off the foot peg and I almost fell off. At that moment is where I decided to ride my own motorcycle. I wanted to be in control of my own ride.

2. Please speak on Bessie Stringfield and what prompted you to start an organization in her honor

After having a ride in her honor of 9 years, I decided that we needed to make a change. I knew we didn’t want to stop honoring her and we needed to ensure that we continued celebrating her forever. The ride required many resources and planning but the organization requires a group of sisters banding together to keep the legacy going.

3. From what I have seen and know of the Bessie Belles. It seems that riding motorcycles is a part of the mission! Was that meant to be intentional and why?

Yes; it is intentional because Bessie was a rider. Just like the ride, the organization is built on riding (which is why the club is not an MC). When Bessie created and founded her club, she was intentional in chartering her club as an AMA club and they rode. She was a racer and they participated in parades (Orange Blossom Parade in Miami, FL). The AMA specializes in some of these activities. We are a chartered AMA club (the same as Bessie’s club)as well. We promote motorcycle safety and education. Every Belle will or has participated in an endorsed certified advanced riding course.

4. Given the success of your organization what is in the future for the Bessie Belles and how do you intend to impact the riding community?

I have always prided myself in being a planner and an implementer. I make goals (short and long-term) and the vision is to have a quality organization. I am not necessarily focused on quantity because numbers don’t decide the success of an organization (in my opinion). Don’t get me wrong, quantity is great too but I would like to have an organization that celebrates the life of Bessie Stringfield by highlighting the women riders in our club. Also, I would like for the organization and its members to show that women can ride motorcycles and be professional women giving back to the community. We live by the 3 E’s: Education, Evolution, and Endurance. This is not just for motorcycles, it’s for our lifestyle.

5. Tell us about what it takes to coordinate all the rides! the logistics of planning, resources used and support gained and given.

Hell! Where do I start? Lol
Let’s go back to the 3 E’s:
Believe it or not- This is where the ride starts
Education- Learning how to group ride and Learning how to lead a group of riders came from Outcast. Taking riding classes to continue improving technique and riding skills. Being involved in Motorsports (drag racing, long distance, flat track, motorcycle apparel innovation)

Evolution- Longevity! Longevity! Longevity!

You must support others and get out and meet people in order to have the resources to organize a ride. When you give, people will give back. Being present and approachable is a huge part of logistics.
Also, riding several different types of motorcycles to understand the ride.
My favorite is the su***de shifting.

Endurance- stand the test of time. Be a trendsetter and innovator - Do things that may not be popular but necessary. Learn how to follow before you lead. I’ve learned from some of the best, I waited until it was my turn (be patient), and then when it was time I took the handlebars. There are many things that are popular right now but remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. It takes time and whatever you are building must have a solid foundation with solid people.

I take this approach on every ride, every route. We have learned something every time (both good and bad).

Bonus: What message do you have for new female riders in the community? Where can anyone find more information about Bessie Belles?

Message to ladies coming up: You can enjoy the ride, decide what you like about riding, and build from there. Open your eyes, shut your mouth, and ride your s**t! Don’t allow anyone to push you out of your comfort zone until you are ready. Get a great GPS system so you can always find your way. Just know that in the end, you came into this world by yourself, and you will leave by yourself. So don’t be afraid to ride by yourself.
