Episode 8 is up! “What Really Happened at Barnard’s Star” explores the story of what one person claims really happened during a disappointing interstellar voyage to Barnard’s Star, which resides roughly six light-years away from Earth.

This is the final episode of Space-Age Folk Tales Season 1. So far, we’ve heard stories about a fairy on Mars, anthropomorphic planets, alien abductions and more, but there is still so much to discover. We haven’t even visited the frigid plains of Europa yet, nor the scorched surface of Venus, nor the distant moons of Uranus and Neptune.

This isn’t the end. Space-Age Folk Tales will return to explore more myths and legends from across the Solar System. Thanks so much for listening!

Episode 3 is up! “The Fifth Giant, Part 1” begins the tale of a fifth giant planet that may have resided in the Solar System eons ago. This story is based off the five-planet Nice model, which posits that there was once a third ice giant like Uranus and Neptune lurking in the outer Solar System. What might have happened to it? Find out from Space-Age Folk Tales in a story so giant that it will take two episodes to tell!

Welcome to the official Facebook account for Space-Age Folk Tales!

Space-Age Folk Tales is a fiction anthology podcast that imagines the folk tales, fables, myths, and legends that might arise in the distant future when humanity has colonized other planets and set out on a path to the stars.

What stories might Martian settlers tell each other when huddled around the proverbial campfire inside their protective domes? What tales might the explorers of Europa imagine while gazing across the landscape of the icy moon as Jupiter hangs in the sky above? Centuries or millennia from now, if humanity has escaped Earth and established itself firmly as an interplanetary species, what myths might have emerged along the way? Space-Age Folk Tales will imagine the answers to these questions and more starting in February 2022.
